Just pull up the string and scoop the net under the crabs. Most of the time I have to shake the string to get the crabs to let go.
This is making me what to go catch some more.

I'm to slow. Lol I kept missing them last time went out. I'll try the string what you said. Hang a string off the side if the boat. No time I'm out!

I find it easier to catch them by swinging the net quick from the top instead of putting it in the water first & coming from below the crab. Try it out.

Louisiana Net and Twine
You will pay a little more but they are better made and are deeper to hold the crabs in better. These nets work great in a strong current. Just my $.02

Touchard marine in Delcambre
I use these had for about three years now and still goign strong. I even braided some 1/4 rope 50' so I could toss them out at the dams.
