havent been hearing good reports from the WD shrimp boats for the last couple of days. you may go look further east around south pass if you decide to chase boats

Chased shrimp boats most of the day but got wore out by sharks. Any word from east of west delta?

Was a rough day today guys, One of my trailer tail light burnt out, caught a blow out on the trailer half way there, and while launching the boat forgot to put the PLUGS IN..

Any ways decided to fish South Tim for mangrove and cobia, Did not find any cobia but we did find the Mangrove snapper but couldn't get them to eat the bait.

The mangrove would eat the Chum(cut pogy) but wouldnt eat the one with the hook in it(free line with small circle hook with 40Lb fluorocarbon)\

We Caught a few of them and called it a day

Did you try going down to 30 or 20 lb leader?was the water really clean? If so they can get leader shy and you have to make sure you hide the hook well

^^ I've had them do that many times. 20# floro and make sure your leader is 3' or longer and hide the hook really good.

haoward 10-19-2014 08:58 AM

We only had 40 lb on the boat, the water was real clean.

Clampy 10-19-2014 09:02 AM

And don't use swivels. They can see them a Mile away.
Sometimes they don't care and sometimes they will scrutinize it beyond belief.

Go down to 30lb , then 20lb never use a swivel also get some thin wire hooks , they suck but sometimes that is what it takes .n be patient sometimes I feed out so much line n don't get a bite until thebait had drifted behind the boat

haoward 10-19-2014 11:35 AM

Also those sucker can bite the hell out of you..
