also the duck pens are northeast of twin sisters and east south east of lone cypress, and the target area is a little more north east, but this is base and will work

funkyflemmons 04-15-2016 09:00 AM

bass yakrs is pretty accurate , but what yall are calling south pond ive always called lil Egypt which is what a lot of the old timers called it

BassYakR 04-15-2016 09:31 AM

Ive heard it called that aswell... everyone i fish with calls it south pond tho...

probably the target area.

T-Boo 04-15-2016 09:26 PM

Yeah. I have been told that they used to do some kind of target practice with the planes from Chennault out there a long time ago. Whether that's a fact or not, I don't know.

Actually you missed my point. I've never been to Lacassine. I was simply wondering how do they enforce the 40 HP max rule.

Yea, it's fact. Back in the 70's there were still one or two targets (steel) sticking up out of the water.

T-Boo 04-16-2016 08:11 PM

That's interesting.
Regarding Duffy.yyz's post, would they have had any reason to use dynamite out there?

T-Boo 04-16-2016 08:46 PM

I was noticing Friday that the Little North Pond had some deeper-than-average areas than I found in the South Pond.
And if you're traveling the main canal from the North Ponds down to the South Pond (I kinda like "Lil Egypt"), there's a kinda square area on the left that looks fairly deep, though I didn't stop and fish it. Maybe it was an old oil platform or something?

No sure about the use of dynamite out there, unless it was training exercises, but since the area was used for aerial target practice I'm sure bombs were dropped. I remember those two remaining targets sticking up at least 4 feet out of the water.

Anybody have any new or old pics of the Pool during a drawdown or a drought?

BassYakR 04-18-2016 07:49 AM

They should close the place for a couple years and do more bomb practice....clean some more deeper holes out

funkyflemmons 04-18-2016 08:46 AM

I know where the hole is
