Got my double floor in, just not rivited down yet. Then built channel amd hinges for front deck lids. It will be dry storage as all the channel will drain water off the front deck to the back. Just lack the final 2 feet of the nose now.

Got the gunnel on and finished the nose out. Built a slight tapered duck bill on the nose to protect a 4x4" LED for a head light/frog light that will be mounted on the underside.

Only thing left to do is finish weld the front deck, grunge a little, gonna try a carbon fiber 3m vinyl wrap on the sides and Sharkhide aluminum clear coat the bottom and interior a bare aluminum, gray hydroturf floor.

Always nice to get them on the trailer. Got to finish weld the front deck, gunnel and weld on the bow eye, and then start test running. I will post some speed numbers with my high performance short shat 40hp yamaha soon.
Prolly wait a few weeks to paint and wrap it.

$1800 with a case of aluminum wire and I bought an extra 4x12' sheet of plate to double floor it and have some left over to build me a crawfish cooker. So prolly actually $1600 if I only bought a 4x8' sheet and not so much extra wire.

About the same price as an Alweld cost and more than the cheaper Academy boats cost the same size, so not the cheapest way to get a boat, I just enjoy it and like thicker hulls.

I was thinking it was more than that. Who you buying from? I have a couple crawfish burners that I need to make and I need a cheaper source.

Pierce Aluminum, Broussard La.

Dogface 05-15-2017 02:49 PM

Did Pierce move to Broussard from St Martinville. We always got aluminum from Pierce in St Martinville.

Rjrobin2002 05-15-2017 09:31 PM

It is a newer building in Broussard. I have been going to this location about 7 years.

Glueing some imitation Hydro turf down, looks and feels nice. Only got the front deck glued down, the rest is sit ting there.

swamp snorkler 05-22-2017 02:41 PM

I guess you can call it imitation hydroturf, it's a diamond plate 4x8' sheet of foam acadeny sells to put under workout equipment. I think this is it, they had them by the exercise bikes, the guys on mudmotortalk.com recommend it as a cheap alternative, but I will say it is not as tough as hydroturf, but should be plenty good for a non commercial used boat that kept covered like mine. I am looking forward to frogging with it under my knees.

What'd you glue it down with? I got the same stuff just haven't put it in yet. Was hoping to use something semi permanent in case i need/want to remove it down the road.

Rjrobin2002 05-23-2017 08:17 AM

I 220 sanded aluminum, wiped the aluminum and mat with acetone, brushed each surface with the glue and waited 3 minutes and stick them together.

Thanks. Was hoping for something a little less permanent, but this may have to do.

Use some 3M double stick tape or get some marine grade hook and loop tape from McMaster.... https://www.mcmaster.com/#hook-and-l...eners/=17riemp

swamp snorkler 05-24-2017 06:33 AM

The matt you used turned out really nice.

Got it all mounted now. Gonna run it with my yeti 20 I will be sitting on and a full size ice chest on the port side and see if I want to build a rod/gun box on the port side somewhere.

Now I am gonna decide if I want to polish it or wrap it.

shellman 05-25-2017 06:43 AM

Got it looking great......
