jeremy always fishes the birds and posts in his report that he hit some secret reefs he knew.....

Actually, Mr. Meaux's technique will work and it's called Rambo-ing the birds. Especially when redfish are moving very fast under the birds, you can bust into them and everyone in the boat can get a hookup before the school submarines. It doesn't make you popular with any other fishermen who are around but it works.

I must say I've never used the Rambo method, but I have seen it used successfully. In the fall when reds are on the top making a wake like a boat, if you chase them with a trolling motor you can't catch them. Maybe W can with a 36 volt job but they usually will dive at the sound of that much hum. You can get ahead of them and try to let them come to you but at best you might get 4 before they dive and come up 100 yds away. I'm not proposing the Rambo method, but in certain situations, I have seen it work. My bud and I used to chase on those big schools of reds back in the marsh in about 6 " of water. The game plan was to chunk a gold Johnson spoon into the fray to get a hookup then they would breakup and regroup 100 yds away. We would each try to get two on - talk about a wild and crazy time.
