Jeremy, how much revenue did LA get from the fishing licenses for those 11 people from out of state (assuming they are actually Texans)? If you haven't priced 'em lately, out of state license cost a lot more than in-state licenses. Those Texans are giving back a lot more to LA and Big Lake than you are. ;)

Everyone knows LA has a better estuary system than TX, so fish are more plentiful in LA...not larger, but more plentiful. Over-fishing and bag limits that are too high ensure that LA does not have a good trophy system. Everyone also knows the hunting is better in TX than in LA. LA folks come to Texas to hunt sometimes, Texans go to LA to fish sometimes. It's all good.

BTW, did you know that when the LA limit ws 25, if a Texan kept his limit he was breaking the law as soon as he crossed the TX line? Thus, most Texans didn't take limits out of LA. Texans DO have to abide by Texas law, even when fishing in LA.

Did you know that if you have more than 30 trout in your freezer and refrigerator right now you are breaking the law? Who is worse, you or the Texans?

I think it can affect the trophy trout numbers, schoolies no (less than 5 lbs).

Duck Butter 01-12-2011 05:08 PM

I am going elk hunting in Colorado next year and killing all I want because La doesn't have a limit on them:*****:

NO....It does not .......... Big Lake has what it can hold and the more smaller fish you keep the quicker you have a limit and less likely to catch a trophy...

You make the size limit higher than more likely to catch a trophy trout

evis102 01-12-2011 05:10 PM

1 boat per bird is a good ratio.

Good pic of the mentality of "sum" people here...

Reel Bender 01-12-2011 09:24 PM

Maybe, you should quit ticking the Texans off!!!!
Don't ya know...................it's a conspiracy against you!!!
They are out there to disprove that you can't hurt the fishery with rod reel.
Evidently, it's working cause you sure are crying about it.
Besides, most the Texans I know fishing there ain't texans anyways. They are former La. residents that have moved to Texas for one reason or another.

inchspinner 01-12-2011 09:50 PM

I have a buddy that fishes with me ever weekend here IE Big Lake, Prien, CC, choupique, everywhere we go hes with me....For over 3 months straight he paid I think right at 30 a trip for a one day lic. thats 360 bucks he forked out to fish when he could have bought a year for 90 which he did so thats 450 bucks off one person when it cost us 15 bucks....Granite he did not know how much I fished so he bought daily lic....the moral of the story is it would be diff if all texans lived HERE and fished here but as stated above they dont fish it that much....IE....go to the casino....99% texans....should we ban them....my 2cents...maybe they will win all of our money.............:help:

adamsfence 01-12-2011 10:03 PM

dont matter the end of the world is 2012 we only got one more year.....i think they should let us use electric shock and fill our boats:smokin:

"W" 01-12-2011 10:03 PM

Still missing the point... I don't care if a texan fishes in LA... I don't like guides bring customers here to fish on our LA waters because he can not provide them fish on his lake or area!!!! 99% of all our guides on big lake are taken texas people fishing....which is good ! But don't come here as a texas guide and fish our waters with your clients

longsidelandry 01-12-2011 10:06 PM

I think you just need to quit crying about it. Just because they outfish you on what you seem to think is your lake, doesn't mean that you have to cry about it like this. What a tutt...

any non-resident pays $90 a year or $17.50 per day in license fees alone, compared to the whopping $15 we pay.

people are allowed to cross state lines and do as they please within the limits of the law aren't they?
this isn't russia. is this russia? this isn't russia.

"W" 01-12-2011 10:34 PM

Whooop I. One guy... I buy all my rods and norton eels from texas....but I'm not a LA guide taking clients to Baffin bay and hanging a stringer of 8lb trout!!! If I did that and posted all over Texas sites they would want my head!!!

inchspinner 01-12-2011 10:37 PM

I'd have to believe that spending $200 for gas/groceries/beer at Brown's, another $100 at Spicer's - not to mention $90 license, etc is helping put Hackberry back together again and helping the LA econ. What do you think????
