papap 03-11-2013 07:13 PM

Would love to be a marshal, but my current schedule changes to much. Maybe on day. Dennis tells me ou usually get to learn alt doing it.

Jwfflipper 03-11-2013 07:17 PM

I fished as a amature in 2002 and learned more in those tournys than i did all year fishing with my friends!

quackills 03-11-2013 09:15 PM

i have meet gerald swindle when they were in new orleans a couple years ago stayed in the same hotel with kvd, him an a few others. Swindle is a character and his wife is hot to talk to them while having breakfest. At the time i didn't know who he was. My wife was asking him all kinds of questions and he didn't mind answering them.

huntin fool 03-11-2013 09:44 PM

Unfortunately I was

samich 03-11-2013 09:50 PM

I thought that was you I was in the red bass tracker. We scratched.

huntin fool 03-11-2013 09:52 PM

Ah I gotcha y'all had 3 of y'all right? . Man I ended up culling once. Kept getting short fish. Took 4th, with nothing but small males. By this weekend it should be on

samich 03-11-2013 09:59 PM

Yea that was us . I hope some I'm ready to start smoking them.

swt70611 03-12-2013 07:49 AM

Guy I know fished pro for a while years ago. Told me that while pre fishing the days before that most guys including himself would remove the barbs from there hooks. Wouldnt set the hook on bites unless it was a small fish. Trying to keep the locals that watched them from fishing those spots prior to the tournoment.

swt70611 03-12-2013 08:55 AM

Biobor EB truck - Cliff Crochet was at parkside this morning. Thats a long run from orange.....

wacknstack 03-12-2013 08:58 AM

Two wrapped boats headed toward Sam Houston Park on Sutherland this morning too around 715...couldnt tell who it was.

huntin fool 03-12-2013 09:41 AM

Pre fishing I usually remove all trebles, etc.. Once this high pressure clears out it should be on.. Just passed over 171 bridge, they had 2 elites within sight. Locals are still Fishin the river though..

skeeter300zx 03-12-2013 09:42 AM

The tournament will be won in Taylor bayou south of Port Arthur

I think there will be a solid sack pulled each day from each body of water (lake arthor, calcasieu, sabine and neches ) think somebody will pull a brute up north on Calcasieu. Taylor's will get hammered, it was getting hit hard before official practice. But it definitely has good fish in there. We went in there, flipped 6 trees, had a 3 1/2 and a chunk 2 3/4 or so.

Ott Defoe Attachment 47184

skeeter300zx 03-12-2013 09:52 AM

On Texas fishing forum last year they have result of club tour in there and 18 pounds was normal bag

Reggoh 03-12-2013 10:34 AM

Sorry for the dumb question... I don't know alot about tournament bass fishing.. but...
Those guys can run anywhere from the launch site that they want? No restrictions?

BassYakR 03-12-2013 10:38 AM

I believe its any connecting water way

When the Tournament was in New Orleans the ran from Bayou Segnette State PArk, the launch point all the way to the Atchafalaya Basin and a few even went to Venice to fish the river.

The only stipulation is that they have to be abck at a certain time I believe.

huntin fool 03-12-2013 11:24 AM

Any connecting body, aslong as they do not touch gulf of Mexico

So they run from Sabine down the Intracoastal to get to the Calcasieu River or all the way over to Lake Arthur? If so, that's quite a haul.

BassYakR 03-12-2013 01:21 PM

Yeah orange to cal locks is about 37-38 miles by water... And roughly 65-67miles by water to lake aurthur. According to navionics... So u figure avg speed of 70mph.. Should take less than an hr.

breambuster 03-12-2013 01:24 PM

Well worth it for the $$$ these guys could win

huntin fool 03-12-2013 02:08 PM

I mean we are talking big bucks on the line. If your on fish, make the run. But fishing time is playing a key factor. Several of the pros told me they would rather have plenty of time to find fish than to run just to hope to find those big fish. It's a gamble. Talked to one elite who stuck a 7lber yesterday.
