Was going to take a few pics of the display. My wife said she wanted to see how far it was to a friends house, now they both read the same, only about 6 miles on them. I kind of wanted to see the yearly fuel consumption.

weedeater 07-21-2013 08:16 AM

fine truck

outdoorsman 07-21-2013 08:24 AM

Thanks. First new vehicle I have ever bought for me.

bayouchub 07-21-2013 08:40 AM

I had a 2012 ecoboost 4x4 crew cab and i was getting 14mpg average but when pulling my 24' bay boat i was getting 7-8 mpg average. And thats pulling at 65. Traded that truck in on a 5.7 tundra and couldnt be happier.

Clampy 07-21-2013 09:08 AM

Mines sucks on fuel towing too but you can't be better in a tundra ? I got the same 7-9 mpg with my tundra pulling.

weedeater 07-21-2013 09:14 AM

I imagine 9-11 mpg towing would be about average for gas or diesel with a decnt load

bayouchub 07-21-2013 09:27 AM

When i can watch the needle move on a truck with a 36 gal tank its time to get rid of that truck

What rear end did you have in the ford?

specktator 07-21-2013 09:48 AM

I get about 13 towing my boat in my F-250.

Yeh every EcoBoost I have been in I made it a point to look at dash at mpg's. and never have seen better than 15-16. Everyone I know that has one says its nothing like they expected it would be.

My f250 diesel gets just over 10 pulling my 11;000 like 5th wheel 14 or so with my 25 foot very heavy bay boat. I get 19 or so if I drive 74 or below but 78 and over it drops down to 16.

Clampy 07-21-2013 10:15 AM

It's def not what I expected but I didn't buy for mpg if I would have wanted 20 plus mpg I would have got a Prius. 365hp 420 torque no matter the size of block is nice. Rides great drives great. I can live with me 15-17 mpg. Plus it's a king ranch I just being in it.

im done with the new diesels. its not just 3/4 and 1 tons. last year i was finally able to buy a new pete dump truck off the line. ive had more trouble with sensors and def than i can remember. all my other trucks with old cummins and cats run like champs. most people are buying old trucks and rebuilding rather than buying new. i also dont know why ford and chevy are running v-8 diesels. the inline 6 block is the most used in the world. if dodge would build a solid truck i would run that cummins all day.

X2

I hear a lot of people make fun of cummins because they are "turd 6 cylinders". They don't know that almost every semi on the road is a 6 cylinder.

My old man runs an '85 Pete 359 with a 400 cummins and 13 over, that thing runs flawless. I drove a Pete 359 with a 400 cat in it for a couple year hauling grain and it was just as reliable, simple simple to work on when the rare issues did pop up.

Clampy 07-21-2013 12:20 PM

We just got a international pro star at work. I hate internationals but so far this girl is a beast. 475 and it doesn't have def. it's got the filter but its been good so far. Only got like 20000 on it though.

Y'all rag Dodge but I have 113000 miles on my 2011 5500 with zero problems. I am in the hotshot business so I pull a 40 ft gn loaded down all the time with it. Only thing I don't like about it is the fuel mileage which sucks when pulling tall un aero friendly loads I tend to get 8 mpg or 9 mpg. Without my trailer on truck I get 16 mpg which I find isn't bad for a truck with 455 gears in it.

When I buy new trucks for hauling fuel I don't buy anything new. I won't buy anything never than 2006. I have:
2000 KW W9 (Cat)
2005 Pete 371 (Cat)
2005 KW W9 (Cat)
2006 KW W9 (Cummins)
2000 Pete 371 (Cat)
They all run like champs. With some of them a 1,000,000 miles. All the new ones stay in shop.

flounder_smacker 07-21-2013 01:19 PM

i want this in black.

Clampy 07-21-2013 01:27 PM
