The "fruit loop" I'm referring to was on the back of your shirt. Kinda looked like something you used to hang the shirt. The wimmins went nuts over 'em. They'd rip 'em off your shirt. You was hot stuff if you had a shirt with a "fruit loop".

Where I grew up at, if you wore Don Johnson clothes, you'd get your azzx kicked quick, fast and in a hurry.
That gay look was never in down South.

When cars came with 8 track players? You loved a rainy night? Archie Bunker was on TV? When Robin Williams was in Mork and Mindy? You owned, or wanted a "Frankie says..." T-shirt. You remember when Betamax was at the cutting edge of technology?

Anyone want to go retro and buy an atari?
Still got one in the box w/ the games in the closet.
Kept threatning to pull it out and give it to my son every time he asked for the latest video game system.

Just pull it down, hook it up and put the smack down on your boy one good time just to let him know old dad's still got it....Then put it up before your son gets good at it....:D

SULPHITE 11-20-2009 03:14 PM

CONTRA!!!!!!

Raymond 11-20-2009 03:17 PM

Only the geezers on here will remember "Party Lines". Way way before caller id they had party line telephones. My grand mother was on one along with 3-4 other houses. Each phone had a different ring, one ring with a pause before the second, two rings before the second, ect. If you picked up and it was not your call you always got an ear full from your grandmother.:shaking: Life was so much simpler back then.

He is grown and married and has never played atari.
I know he can smoke me on the new game systems .
But The old man can still take him down a notch when fishing.
And i don't think if i live to be 100 he'll ever ball up his fist at me again.:work:

Ray 11-20-2009 04:22 PM

We had party lines in Creole and Cameron up into the early 80's.

Marlin Perkins buddies were Jim and Stan.
Go get him Stan.

jchief 11-20-2009 06:59 PM

Party lines

yes i remember them. My grandparents lived in Hackberry and I practically lived thier every summer. But we had them in Carlyss then also.

jchief 11-20-2009 07:12 PM

Something really important happened in 1977. I graduated from Sulphur high school suprising both my father and myself.

Elvis dies, the space shuttle makes its first flight off the back of a 747, Bohemian Rahpsody by Queen album of the year, Saturday night fever and disco, Star Wars is in theaters, Rocky is the picture of the year, Apple computers go on sale, DOW closed the year at 871, gasoline is $0.65 a gallon.

Gerald 11-20-2009 07:20 PM

We had a party line in Baton Rouge when I was very young. I remember being told not to answer the phone.....that was not our ring. My Grandparents had a party line out in the country up in Missouri. After Grandma got finished with the morning breakfast and chores......she would "listen in" to find out what was going on with any of the neighbors.

We move into a new house my Dad had built when I was about 5 yrs old. We then got a 5 digit number [it was 35229] funny how you remember some things.

Next came the Exchange prefixes......ours was Walnut [WA].....so the new number became WA 35229.
