If I'm available, I'll roll to laffy. A eater, not a cook. But I'm happy to pay for the privilege.

Lafayette works

duckman1911 09-19-2014 07:28 PM

Getting enough interest. New thread coming. Want/need input from those seriously considering making this work..
Another SC brother has been working on making this happen. It is early and it is nothing more than idea but I think we can pull this off.
Not asking or expecting any time or financial obligations from anyone. Just input and ideas. John

I'd put a team together. Should be after duck season though. Like another poster said February is great.

Laffy got a cab to bring me back to Hberry ? I tend to get a little twisted in a competition. Takes a fith of VO to make a good Roux.

Eman knows his way around an iron pot. Just don't want this idea to die. Let's do this.

I sampled a couple cookoffs.

The best way I find if that everyone makes a certain size minimum pot of whatevers being cooked gumbo, sauce picaunte, jambalaya..... You get as many "sampling tickets" as there are competitors entries plus a voters choice ticket. If you have 12 people cooking you get 12 tickets of one color plus a voters choice which is another color. With each sampling ticket you get a sample, after you've sampled them all you put your vote in for your favorite in a seperate bucket. Whomever has the most votes wins the "peoples choice award".

I also been to a jamabalaya cookoff where everyone had to use the same ingredients (chicken, sausage) and they could make a jambalaya with whatever they wanted. Those are cool as well. Maybe do a chicken and sausage gumbo for the tender palates and a whatever gumbo for the more adventurous. Just my ¢.02
