Good call, I had this happen to me before. I usually change my out every year since they are pretty inexpensive or once the two little stud threads start to look rusty.
Also, you need to make sure your connections to the battery is tight.

Sea-Trac Offshore 02-28-2010 09:13 AM

Dielectric grease is your best friend!

huntin fool 02-28-2010 10:11 AM

did someone text him???

specktator 02-28-2010 11:38 AM

jchief 02-28-2010 11:56 AM

My cell is 3378422128. Waiting on my son to get here then heading out. He went to a batchelors party last night.

Heading to Long Point. Holler at me if you in that area. I got a few tools.

Its a small red or black button that is going to be on a breaker....it is hard to locate something.....usually the breaker is on your Battery cable on Battery.... Look hard all around the little box...... Somethings it can be farther up on your cables....

It will trip something due to a number of things....mostly just to ...

I know it you do not have tight connections on your batteries it will trip...
If you have a 24V Troll motor (2 batteries)you may have one connected to each.....I know I do.

Yesterday after you guys told me about reset button, it worked. But it still kept trippin the reset every few minutes. I made sure connections were tight. Any other ideas besides pulling it off and setting it on fire?

Yeh it's pretty rusted!

Montauk17 03-01-2010 09:35 AM

The breakers that have the reset button give more problems then the automatic breakers. We sell the auto ones for about 12 bucks, they dont last long in saltwater. Also make sure your battery eyes are shiny and not black or rusted. When you say the connection is tight, are you doing it by hand or with a wrench? Hand tight is not tight enough....

i didnt have any tools on my boat yest. thought my tool box was still in there from last year but pops took it out. so yes hand tight. i tightened them with wrench this morning.

another question for u. i see those old bost whaler warden boats at the prop shop. they just layin up or what? i broke the knob off trim tab switch on my whaler a while back and was wondering if maybe i could get a switch off one of those whalers over there. i am also missing one little hatch cover. If not, u know where i could get one. i searched all over the internet for one.

Another thing to check......is the wire. The salt water gets up inside the wires where the wire is exposed at connections. You might have to cut the wire at each connection. Cut off the end of the wire [1" to 3"] until you see "good" looking wire.

Or.....there could be a "bad" or partically "broken" wire due to vibration or wire being pinched. I found this problem on my boat not long ago.
