Is it October YET? 03-15-2010 04:09 PM

Lake P is a great spot. You can even have a bass division. I'm in if I can fish with Dumas and Kevin Ford. Maybe TT can run it on LSM tv show!

QUACKHEAD 03-15-2010 04:12 PM

Im not saying their arent holes where theres just tons of mules but while everyone around us was catching 12&13" trout, we were pulling in 18-22" trout. right in the surf by caminada pass behind bridgeside. you can use cork too. but the way they hit it is: your cork will slam under(you'll set the hook but wont have nothing), that is the trout stunning the croaker, then it comes back to eat it and you'll catch him on the second hit. I had a 5.5lber on and lost him right when he got to me. I know because I gave a guy the rest of my croakers while I went to go get lunch and when we got back he told me "Man I caught the biggest trout of my life on them croakers, 5.5 pounds right here where you was fishing:pissed::pissed::pissed:"

bay_slayer 03-15-2010 05:34 PM

Its all the same drive for me so I am down to do another one anywhere

May /June would be tops. Been fishin down there most of my life.
Only thing about doing a late spring / summer tourney there would be that we probably won't be able to get one of the major marinas for a weigh in site as they have tourneys pretty much every weekend .
But i'm sure i can find us someplace .
that time of year will be great for , yakkers , boaters and waders.
If we get serious about doing a grand isle bungle i will be happy to help w/ contacts and sites and anything else needed.

if it was in gi we could do the weigh in at chris morans or steve tomeny's spot in fourchon just down the road i know they would love the business

FF_T_Warren 03-15-2010 06:02 PM

True, no arguments with that, but I know where to catch fish in grand isle. I've been going to grand isle since before my memory can even recall so, even in crappy conditions I could at least still get on a few fish and not be a total waste. But with the weather the way it has been, and the locals still not hammering them yet, and me never fishing there. To me thats just throwing my money away and wasting my time. Even if it had been in GI this weekend, I wouldn't have gone. The conditions just aren't quite up to my likings yet. When they get there I'll fish a good bit, but I like to catch fish(who doesnt) and to me until the bite is pretty steady, I can find other hobbies to mess around with.

I didn't think about staying at Chris's, I know him pretty well too, went to school, worked & shot bows with him. He can hook us on a place to stay.
