I'm weary about ordering my upper from palmetto state...I love the madness uppers on there but I'm weary about them taking over a month to come in... Is this the case with all places or just palmetto

SULPHITE 09-28-2012 03:12 PM

what did you get?

SULPHITE 09-28-2012 03:13 PM

no not really...depends on stock and if so read their shipping FAQs

Hopedale Hustler 09-28-2012 03:29 PM

I went with the new frontier lower...realllly like the madness uppers but I'm torn between one or just ordering a diff upper and putting a 14" extended handgaurd on it I really like the extended handgaurd look.....since I built my ak all black I'm doing this one in FDE..The new frontier lower does not come in FDE but I'm changing the grip to a FDE grip and but stock to a FDE collapsible stock...also am ordering FDE mags...I think it's gonna look good

Y'all got me curious..couple questions:

1. Someone mentioned a les Bauer upper with no forward assist. Why would you want to delete the assist?

2. That rifle pictures above kinda seems like the barrel length and foregrip/front site post don't match. Is the barrel length due to legal limits on length? If so why not go with a m16 style hand grip/front site post which only leave an inch or so of barrel exposed before the muzzle brake?

TIA

its a m4 carbine upper, minimum length barrel is 16inches, I can't legally buy one shorter without the NFA papers and tax.

and some people get the les bauer uppers with no forward assist because it is a little lighter and no one uses the forward assist anyway is better to re rack your bolt!

That is why I go with Med length uppers...

M16's are assembled by National Guard Members without any gunsmith training. They put the barrel in, try a go gauge, no go gauge, test fire, send it back out. The rifle is modular by design, it is not as hard to assemble an upper as some make it out to be. If anyone is looking, Midway had DPMS uppers in stock with BCG and CH for around $375 for non dealer pricing a few days a go, may still have them. Not the best, but usually solid.

Oh, and it is normal to wait for uppers. I ordered 20ish uppers in February, the made it in June I believe, maybe July, I forget.
