All I have access to is about a half dozen speck shell decoys, a vortex, a old cassette tape of geese and a shotgun ;). I would be interested in participating if you have room and decide to give it a go.

I agree I know some people smokem over rags but i would be the one to put them out and they wouldn't come any where near my spread but like I said I'm a rookie

I am going to play devils advocate here and I probably shouldn't but I am going to ayways:spineyes:

You know how duck hunters always talk about the guys that have no idea how to set up the right way, call too much, skybust, bring all these gadgets and decoys and set up wrong and do nothing but educate the ducks and we get mad that they are doint nothing but making lots of racket, scaring off the birds, educating them, and only hunt opening weekend?

Does any of this sound EXACTLY what goes on during the conservation season?:grinpimp::rotfl:

This observation just hit me so don't shoot me

YES!!! Luckily the ones we saw were already educated because the would change their whole flight path just to go around our spread. If was bad I tell ya. BAD! last year we killed double that huntin over 100 oil pads!

I have only been a couple times on snow goose hunts and it was great (until we had to pick up all the decoys):grinpimp:

It did look good and it worked great on doves. We could of killed a million doves! At least the gumbo was delicious!

So lets get a thread participant survey:

Notables:
Body of geese(10k) just 500-750ydd guessing due south.
Was A Se wind 15-20
Tom NNE 5-10. My best speck wind.
We had 2ppl and 250rags so seeing the non honkers behind us definately cost opps.
Birds did work us I screwed up on 2 big flocks but with more ppl It would've been avoided.
Don't know where they will be tomorrow but I'm down to leave laffy round 3 n go with a few ppl and get an idea what we are up against. If like 5-6ppl. Hopefully with shells and I have speck shells.
50% of burds did go out of their way to story our spread but again it was a shorter route to body

bgizzle 12-10-2012 02:58 PM

If like= I'd like. 5-6 ppl to hunt Tom. Me plus 5or 6

bgizzle 12-10-2012 03:02 PM

Oh and that concentration unless they jumped up to move or when a bug wad of geese were coming in even the. They weren't like our callers versions...lol we left it off after 830

bgizzle 12-10-2012 04:10 PM

They were quiet

flounder_smacker 12-10-2012 04:34 PM

jdaigle33 12-10-2012 04:46 PM

Hate to say it fellas but I'm going to have to cancel. Not ever one to do this but its for the best my shoulder is bad off and I been fighting it but with the meds Im on I shouldn't be doing this until I'm done. I tore a tendon In my shoulder with captain bg messing with my dog.... I will make it up in the second split on a week day. Sry again rehab is more important right now I think before I can't move it

CaptainBG 12-10-2012 08:48 PM

Hope that shoulder heals up fast!

ripinlips 12-10-2012 09:11 PM

No worries...Quick Healing and Recovery. Still a nice gesture.

bgizzle 12-10-2012 09:17 PM

We will do it 2nd split! I always wanted to hunt over a bunch o goose decoys during duck season n c how it works

Vermillionaire 12-10-2012 11:56 PM

Ice and stim will heal any injury, according to my old trainer. Im gunna go test out these shells and snow talker cd somewhere. Ya'll think my speck dekes will help in the spread?
