Yep the same reason that inside shrimp season is not going to open until the end of the month.
It should be on for Swollfest this year.

Yep they were hard to come by this weekend. I met up with some guys that were down there on a bachelor party and had a guided trip planned. The guide they booked call them they day before and told them that he thought they should cancel the trip but if they really wanted to go he could bring them on a $600 boat ride.

 Do you happen to know who the guide was?

Well, it was a good weekend. We kept 14 trout tagged 9 trout and 1 redfish. After we ran out of tags we must have caught and released 8 more trout and one 36.5" redfish.

This was the only thing I could get the trout to hit all weekend long. Had a buddy of mine with me and until he put a gulp shiny penny on I had 5 trout to his none. Walmart has them on clearance right now, FYI

I own a 20` CC Tidewater.

I love the hospitality around Port Sulphur, everyone slows down when they approach a boat fishing. This is something you do not see a lot of in other areas. At first I thought everyone had been looking to see what we were doing, then i thought at one point I was doing something wrong, but it hit me, this is what you should do as it is respect for other fisherman (my grandpa taught me that a long time ago).

I'm staying north this weekend. I have to run to the island to look at a camp. Plan on stopping at catfish lake on the way.
