I'm in for Toledo Bend just hope it does't land on my weekend to work just like the SC Tourney did. I work right at False River and it is full of boaters all day every day, try to bass fish on 3 ft. whitecaps from boats, I don't think so.

The Lake Bruin Motel and Grill has about 10 rooms. Not a Hilton, but ok for a night.

you may be a pro on the river ,But i've seen B.A.S.S. pros brought to their knees on false river. They swear the lake should be drained and planted w/ sugar cane.

Toledo gets my vote in the fall...plenty of camps, cottages and camp grounds to accomadate everyone that wants to participate...then after a long day of fishing, we can all get together and have a big ol fish fry and try not to get arrested :D

adamsfence 03-16-2010 07:59 PM

plenty of camps and spots to bring campers toledo all the way for my vote

jchief 03-16-2010 08:09 PM

Toledo

I still vote for Toledo, but, will this be a charity event like Calcasieu or just a "get together"? Toledo can be tough in the summer/fall, but if you are working with sponsors/donors you need the time. Now thru June is normally a little easier fishing on Toledo.

My $1.02 cents

fishmaster911 03-16-2010 08:12 PM

mid to late october isn't that hard ! jchief is right summer can get really hard fishing

1st week of June, it's hot in the middle of the day, but still bareable. Fishing is normally good then too, Top water bite will be on in the mornings.

Big Lake Blondie 03-16-2010 08:19 PM

the bite ain't gonna be on at all in the summer...just be working on your tan...fall is nice & gives everyone time to get plans in the works...we have a big reunion in June and we go fishing while there and the bite is slow even then...got to be really early or after sunset to get anything on

What about in May? Sacalait and bream biting yet? Never really targeted bream and sacalait in May there.

LPfishnTIM 03-16-2010 08:43 PM

water is warming up, by the time you do this tourney it will be a weekend and at false river every jet skier, sailboat, and party barge in the area will be making wakes on the water. lake bruin would be better or cataouachie!!!!!

jchief 03-16-2010 08:48 PM

Yes

The sacalait bite is in April/May the bream is May/June normally. May is typically post spawn on Toledo for bass. But this year may be different. I have fished it for years so any time is okay with me. To give every one a chance to catch "fish" the earlier the better.

fishmaster911 03-16-2010 08:49 PM

just my 2 cents! if salty cajun were to have a fresh water tourny this year it should be just a regular tourny , not a charity tourny due to just having trout tourny in big lake ! maybe next year have a charity bass tourny, that way there will be time to get things together !
