You pay a daily rate for your PH ( in Africa a guide is called a professional hunter , they are licsenced by the province ) , daily rate for my wife as an observer on the days she's just tagging along . Daily rate includes room and board ( 5 star amenities , we have a personal chef, waiter, and a maid. literally as soon as I throw a towel on the floor after bathing it's picked up and a new one is brought . If I don't have a drink in my hand they are always trying to give us one . Basically the absolute best hospitality I've ever experienced ) , transport , all meals drinks ect. Then I pay for the trophies some are a flat fee some you pay more or less depending on size. The area I hunted first is right under 100,000 acres the area I'm on now is 70,000 acres and I'm going back to the 100,000 acre area Saturday for 2-3 more days then to a costal area that I prolly won't hunt most likely just bum around with Kori on the beach

Well OK, I guess I misspoke. I should have said it "resembles" a domestic animal. But whatever twist is put on it...no way in hell I'd ever eat a horse. :)
Not that I am putting down in any way the adventure you're on. Enjoy it out there man...a trip most would never get a chance at.
But remember ..."a horse by any other name...is still a horse" :D

These people live in corrugated tin shacks with shipping pallets as the roof and tar paper! No running water , electric is pirated off street lights .

Awesome thing to do,enjoy you hunt!

Great stuff.... Some day i am going to do my bucket list hunting trip. Want to do a traditional style hunt in old europe for wild boar, roe deer, red stag and other stuff. (yeah i know you can kill all that stuff in texas) But you can't get the same kind of feel over here.

Don't knock it till you try it. My buddy has killed a zebra and it was very good eating.

Husband and Wife Gemsbok down!!! What an amazing hunt yesterday!! I shot a gemsbok at 400 yards on a walk n stalk , I've been hunting this animal the whole time I've been in Africa , tgey have been the most difficult animal to get . The closest I could get was 400 before they'd start moving, the terrain was extremely rugged and the day was coming to an end so I squeezed off a round 400 yards uphill in 30 mph wind KABOOM .... Tagged it! Animal took off.... Crap! Put my pack back on and we took off up the mountain after it , it went out of sight but when we rounded a corner another herd of 8 was 200 yards away so we set up the shooting stick and my wife tagged one! My wife went in the direction of hers with the PH and another PH and I went off with a tracker and a skinner into the direction of mine . Full of emotion , excitement not only I finally got one but so did Kori, fear it wasn't a good enough shot , worried Kori would get hurt climbing the mountian on pursuit of hers... We get to where my animal was shot but couldn't find blood... Crap! At this time Kori n the 2 PH's are completely out of sight . We search high n low in crazy thick terrain ... Nothing and the sun is going down , starting to get very nervous . I finally start to see Kori and 1 PH in the distance so I begin to make my way to them . Once we meet up I find out one of the PH continued on after koris Gemsbok . So we devised a plan to continue on and leave Kori . After another hour tracking we finally spot mine seeking cover and saftey in the brush on the side of the mountain ... Boom perfect shoulder shot ( take out its 4 wheel drive because I couldn't imagine chasing it any longer) and down it goes!! Now how to get it down !! Bittersweet feeling now since we had recovered mine but koris was still missing , it was dark and we couldn't find the other PH. We load into a land cruiser ( which is the most hardcore work horse vechile I've ever seen) in search of the PH . Within 30 min we find him and plan to come back in the morning since he located good blood . 6 am we start tracking the blood and finally locate the animal at 1:30 ! What a feeling! .. Unfourtantly koris gemsbok was damaged by animals during the night so we don't have a picture of hers but ill post up some of mine later tonight!
