Well, really good news coming out of the NICU today! They have started feeding Wyatt breast milk. This could open up a new host of problems but it is progress. They are also weening him off of his steroids because his blood pressure and urine out put are so good. They are also weening him off his pain meds because he is tolerating everything so well All in all the best day he has had in his life, in my opinion!

Best news this month, and that beats opening weekend of duck season for the record! Lucas couldnt be happier for the three of you, hang in there bud.

Thanks Tim, before Jamie got pregnant I questioned my ability to be a good dad. I have a tempur and sometimes a lack of patience. Once that boy hit the table there was never a question that he has my undivided attention for the rest of my life. People told me it was different when you have your own child I just wasn't prepared for the amount of love and devotion I was capable of. I want to thank you all again for taking the time to pray for us and to follow our story like Wyatt is a part of your family. I know we still have a long road but for the first time I feel like there is some light at the end of this extremely dark tunnel.

I think any person with a real grasp on reality has the same thoughts in mind. I know I did because I had zero patience before parenthood...Now, I have a little more. When all of this is over and he's home with you, don't think for a second that he won't remind you of what it's like to have a short fuse! He'll bring the candle to light it sometimes!:rotfl::rolleyes:

This struggle is truly a testament to your courage and devotion and your world will NEVER be the same, that is guaranteed! Good luck brother and we're still praying for you guys! Heck, I now have to update my wife on how Wyatt's doing every day when I get home!:rotfl:;)

Wyatt continues to tolerate his feeds and in fact had his first real poop! The doctors are encouraged that he is not only digesting the food but passing it as well. The doctors turned down settings on Wyatt's ventilator again today and he now 10 breaths per minute away from getting moved to a cpap machine. Once he is on this machine Jamie and I will be able to hold our little man! I am trying to take all this stride but it is really hard when he is doing so good.

Montauk17 11-18-2011 07:26 PM

Awesome bro!!!!!!!!! Ain't GOD great?

Kenner18 11-18-2011 07:27 PM

youmyboyblue 11-18-2011 11:21 PM

I have purposely not been reading this thread. My wife is 14 weeks pregnant right now and i could'nt imagine. I respect and admire the strength you are showing and have kept your family in our prayers.

Mediumheavyaction6'6 11-18-2011 11:48 PM

Well, they lowered Wyatt's vent settings again tonight. He is now at 20 breaths per minute which means he is only five breaths per minute from possibly being moved to a different less invasive breathing machine! I am blown away at how well Wyatt is doing right now. It just seems to good to be true, considering he wasn't doing so hot at the beginning of the week. We will take it though with no questions asked.

1fastmerc 11-19-2011 12:18 AM

Great news buddy. Prayers still going upward.

Great news lucas God is great, and we give all the praise and glory to him for answering our prayers for his precious angel baby Wyatt.

Mediumheavyaction6'6 11-19-2011 06:07 PM

It looks like Wyatt will be switched to the new vent tomorrow. They started caffeine today to help with the apnea all preemies have. Looks like things are on the up and up. I said a little prayer to today to thank God for his help and instilling the will that Wyatt has. Wyatt could go back on the old vent but any progress even short lived is good.

jdm4x43732 11-19-2011 06:36 PM

glad to hear he is still doing good, keep the updates coming alot of us are following his progress.

Bluechip 11-19-2011 06:40 PM

That's great Lucas. Seems like the little man has made significant progress in the last week.

That boy said he is ready for some turkey and cornbread dressing.

1fastmerc 11-19-2011 06:57 PM

Keep the good news coming.

Thanks for the update! The will of God, You, Momma and Wyatt will make this work! You're still on our minds in the Fisher household!

God Bless!

Mediumheavyaction6'6 11-20-2011 02:15 PM

The doctors decided to move Wyatt off the conventional vent to a CPAP machine this morning. The doctors feel like he has a 50/50 chance of this working the first time. They are asking his little body to do a lot on its own so it's anyone's guess as to whether it works or not. I am cautiously optimistic that this works but we will be ok if he has to be put back on the regular vent. I'll keep everyone posted as always and as always I ask that you say a little prayer that he has the strength needed to stay on this new ventilator.

Bluechip 11-20-2011 05:49 PM

Thanks for the report Lucas. Godspeed to you, the family and all the medical staff.

Don't sweat it....he is a "Tuff" little man.

southern151 11-20-2011 05:55 PM

I spent some time in church today praying for you guys. keep these reports coming!

LPfishnTIM 11-20-2011 06:46 PM

Mediumheavyaction6'6 11-20-2011 08:53 PM

Sitting by Wyatt as I type. He has had a really good first day on the cpap. We were pleasantly surprised to find he was on a low oxygen percentage when we got here and had no real hang-ups. Keep your fingers crossed this holds up. The doctors also increased his breast milk today and he seems to be tolerating it do far! All in all a good day.

1fastmerc 11-20-2011 08:59 PM

Really great news.

I thought this was pretty funny. Wyatt wanting to let us know what he thought of his new breathing apparatus. Check out his hand he is showing us who is number one!

jchief 11-20-2011 10:07 PM

Either that or he is telling Dad what to do already. Preparing for when he is a teenager...

LOL

Mediumheavyaction6'6 11-20-2011 10:20 PM

that could be

Montauk17 11-20-2011 10:22 PM

Haha thats funny

Mediumheavyaction6'6 11-21-2011 01:22 PM

Wyatt is still doing well on the CPAP machine. They are increasing his breast milk to 1.5 ml/hour so again he is having a good day. I am hoping that with this increase his strength will increase and he will continue to do well.

jdm4x43732 11-21-2011 01:25 PM

Glad to see the good news again today.

PaulMyers 11-21-2011 01:26 PM
