I'm praying you and your family Lucas.

Jeremiah 29: 11-12 "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you."

Thanks Eddie

An update for everyone. Wyatt decided this morning that he was tired of breathing on his own so he is back on the vent. We expected this was a possibility but hoped he would fight the good fight. The doctors assured us that this happens a lot with small babies and he will try again in a few days. Wyatt is still tolerating his feeds and his blood pressure has been good. This is a minor setback but he is still good. Happy thanksgiving to all my extended family here and just take a minute tomorrow to realize what you truly can be thankful for.

PaulMyers 11-23-2011 12:55 PM

That's still really good news Lucas. Wyatt just wants to do things on his terms. He's showing y'all who the "BOSS" really is!

Wyatt wants to wish everyone a happy thanksgiving! We are here at the hospital spending the day with our little turkey. Wyatt is having a good day so far and the doctors are looking to focus on feeding him more this week to build up his strength. He is now at 3 ml an hour on his breast milk and doctors are going to increase it daily in order to get Wyatt pumped up for his next attempt at cpap. All in all, we are truly thankful for all you here who have kept us in your thoughts and prayers and for the strength that has given us and Wyatt.

1fastmerc 11-24-2011 01:45 PM

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family also. Keep us updated.

I had to share this moment with all of you. Jamie got to hold Wyatt today!!!! It was the most amazing moment of our lives. You have to excuse the beard it's a rally beard for Wyatt. I haven't trimmed it since he was born.

DUCKGOGETTER 11-25-2011 10:18 PM

Man that is by far the best picture i've seen on this sight. Ya'll truly are blessed with an angel of the lord, and he couldn't have gave baby wyatt better parents then you and your wife. Congrats

Bluechip 11-25-2011 10:21 PM

An update:

Wyatt has made tremendous leaps in the last few days. They have him on full feeds of breast milk meaning he no longer needs IV fluids. They are adding calories to the milk to beef him up for his next attempt at cpap. Wyatt is starting to tolerate being touched and is just all around more stable. We weighed him tonight and he is 1 pound and a little over 14 ounces. He is now 13 1/4 inches and his head has increased in circumference. The doctors have taken out the permanent feeding line that was in his leg and he gets the only meds he is on, orally. The doctor told us this is a big step. Absolutely a great weekend and a ton of things to be thankful for! In fact, I was comfortable enough to leave town and duck hunt yesterday. I killed my first big duck, a feat since I have only big duck hunted three times. It was a grey duck but I'll take it.

LPfishnTIM 11-27-2011 08:48 PM

great news, and it must feel nice to get back outdoors!

blackmamba 11-27-2011 08:50 PM

Great news!! And congrats on the bird

meaux fishing 11-27-2011 08:51 PM

Glad to hear he is doing so well... How many times have you small duck hunted?;)

Mediumheavyaction6'6 11-27-2011 09:34 PM

3 or 4 times for dem tiny teals. you know you can't shoot dat big duck when you huntin doze t-teal

southern151 11-29-2011 09:22 AM

I'm sure all is well but, anybody got an update?!

Mediumheavyaction6'6 11-29-2011 11:05 AM

Everything is still clicking along well Corey. Wyatt has been having some up and down blood gases the last two days. The doctors upped the vent settings a day ago but Wyatt is still a little high on his CO2. I am waiting on a call from the doctor now to discuss options. Everything else is going great. Wyatt is eating like a champ and maintaining all his other numbers really well. If we could get the boy back on CPAP and see if he is able to stay off the ventilator for a little while longer I would be much happier. I am worried that the longer he stays intubated the worse he is going to get. Keep the prayers going in hopes that Wyatt can make the switch back to CPAP, and that he lasts a good while on it allowing his lungs to recover.

longcast 11-29-2011 11:08 AM

Thanks for the update bro. I can't imagine what yall are going through. Keep us posted and prayers are with you and your family.

Mediumheavyaction6'6 11-30-2011 07:58 AM

Throw out a few prayers today boys and girls. Wyatt is getting his second attempt at cpap. Wyatt is getting far more breast milk and calories this time around so hopefully he will stay on it. I'll keep everyone updated on his progress.
