Zero in it today. Just drove past it. Pintail Drive is slap full of birds though.

Top Dawg 01-03-2013 06:15 PM

That's a good sign. Come on saturday

specktator 01-03-2013 06:18 PM

What about rain water in y'all's areas? Have y'all noticed holes that are holding rain water draining in last day or so? That's what's messing us up. They are just scattered with all this rain water.

This is a picture I took today down Pintail Drive. There was a lot of birds right there in that spot that I couldn't fit in the picture. The amount of pintail and specks was amazing.

They have plowed fields that got flooded from the rain by where we hunt and they was over a thousand geese for sure and there was around 100-200 ducks approximately from what we saw get up. Looked like a little bit of everything mixed in it. The geese stay in that area everyday though already.

meaux fishing 01-03-2013 08:56 PM

I heard there was a lot of birds in the Oak Grove/Grand Chenier area today from a buddy that was working down there

SaltERedneck 01-04-2013 09:53 AM

well i went out with micah this morning to a little pothole... the hellacious walk kept us from getting to where we needed to be... not much action other than a mallard that micah fell over trying to pull up on. did manage to work two specks for about 4 passes. one put down the landing gear but my dumb arse wanted both in... didnt happen.

Micah is still out there. Did however jump up about 60 mallards on the way out.

Nothing really flying on my end either. Killed one blackjack and decided to take it to the house at 9. Saw pretty good bit of birds sitting in ponds on the side of 82 on the way back they just weren't moving. Didn't hear a lot of shooting either

We didn't do good at all but my daughter enjoyed it anyway. We only saw 4 ducks and they were way out of range. They had lots of geese flying over but she was ready to go and I hadn't brought goose decoys or call so we rolled out. She didn't want to wait all morning for a single that may fly by low enough.

going again in the morning hope to have a better report. I have family that drove in from New Orleans to hunt with us in Gueydan. With my and the wife's work schedules this may be the last hunt I may be able to go on this year. Hope to put them on some birds.

Good luck man, I'm gonna try it again in the morning too.

Top Dawg 01-04-2013 10:32 PM

I'll be after em in the timber in the am

ckinchen 01-04-2013 10:43 PM

My blind in white lake has been very slow the last two weeks as has my blind in Hackberry. Reports are much better on the coast. Welsh blind is very slow and has been all year.

I hunted at our lease in Texas on Wens and we had a quick limit, all teal and one spoonie. I am headed down there again in the am.

Good luck guys.

cajunforeman 01-04-2013 11:49 PM

We hunted the timber last week and ended up with 8 but it was a quick shoot. I've hunted pine island, grand chiener, gum cove and the burns. All have dropped numbers in 2 weeks. I was lucky enough to get on some 10-16 bird hunts in the a few places but most have dropped off. My dads blind in Roanoke has only killed 10 birds all year. Last year they killed 160 out of it. First split with no fronts killed the fields but the marsh was hammering them. 2nd split when we started getting rain and cold weather the marshes decreased and the fields never increased. It's been a different year for sure. I wish everyone the best in the morning and shoot the suckers in face!'

Top Dawg 01-05-2013 12:00 AM

I hear ya. We gonna try for damn sure. If nothing else ima drink some beers after the hunt. I'll be not too far from you in the morning prolly.

Bucoo 01-05-2013 12:01 AM

It's been a better than average year for us this year. First split was awesome and the second split was not quite as good but we had some real good hunts still. Birds are all around us but the don't want to do anything for us though.

This is what I'm competing with after all this rain. It's not but 500 yards from where I'm hunting but they won't leave it. Not sure if you'll be able to see the birds in the picture, I took it with my phone.
