Seems like most people have center consoles. I have a Triton FS 188. What are the benifits of a center console. My boat is 8 years old. My wife is not in very good health and doesn't fish with me a lot anymore. I mostly go myself. Thinking about downsizing. Are the center consoles fiberglass or aluminum? I live in Indiana by the way. My Triton is 19 ft. Can you get the bay boats that size or smaller? I know nothing about them .

First off welcome to the site, second sorry to hear about your wifes ailing health. Not let me try to answer your questions. Here in the south where most people run bay boats it's hot so we don't need the full windshield to protect us from the weather. Center console give you 360 degree fishability, you can walk all around the boat to fish. Big front and back deck to fish the marsh. They come in fiberglass and aluminum. Most of the larger manufactures make them from 16-24' and some of your larger bass boat builders make a center console bay boat. Express, Dura Craft, Polar G3 all make a nice aluminum hull center console. Tidewater, Key West, Mako, Kenner, and the list goes way on all make nice center consoles under 17' |

It's also better to use your legs to take the shock of rough water, as opposed to your butt and spine. |

Just picked up a 16 foot aluminum hull with a 30 mariner on the back really realy cheap she runs great i did a couple things to her since this pic like a seat up grade and new lighting with a little TLC she will be back to shining again. Started to test aluminum polishing products and found one that seemed to work pretty well so next day i can't be fishing i'll start buffing her!
question is she big enough to take to big lake and find fish? |

Get some AlumaBrite, put it a spray bottle and spray it on there. Make sure your rinse your trailer really well, it can mess it up if it galvanized. |

stage 1
Add a cam and get your heads worked and you will see a major difference in your motor. I have the stage 1 mods on my gator tail and I would never run a stock motor. It's idles better and runs much better with more power. You won't be disappointed after doing a few ready mods. And as far as shortening the life of the motor, I know a few guys with over 500 hours on their motors after the mods. So as long as you don't go over board you should be fine.
|
Does anyone around lake Charles do this kind of work?
|
I don't know of anyone...Try Calens small engine or get with Hoyt at GatorTail...at least get the heads reworked....when I pulled mine off you could see daylight about 75% around each valve....Factory briggs is junk!!

mods
I don't know of anyone near lake Charles but I would definitely recommend having gator tail do the mods. Give Hoyt a call and he can set you up right. They did my mods and I've Ben nothing but pleased. You won't regret it
|
You can't go wrong with Calen he did my mods. I would bring another motor to him without a second thought.
