I heard the water in Pecan Island is very high. Going set out decoys tomorrow at my lease South of Kaplan. I hear we still have a good amount of ducks on the farm.

Cannot wait until SAT.

meaux fishing 11-04-2015 07:06 PM

rode around the kaplan/gueydan/lyons point area alot today. didnt see to much flying or in the fields but it doesnt mean they arent there

B-Stealth 11-04-2015 08:13 PM

I called in a favor to some DU bigwigs I know and asked them to ease up on the forcfield and send a few more ducks down here.

Y'all can thank me later.

Went down to GC Sunday afternoon to touch up the blind and we got about an extra foot or so...Saw a few ducks here and there and rode around the marsh a little bit jumping up a few, but when were leaving closer to dark, there were some good flights of birds coming in. We'll take what we can get this weekend and I definitely wont get bent out of shape if we only kill a handful.

I'm shocked at how many people are putting decoys out a week in advance. I try to pick mine up after every hunt as a lot of our birds stick around and smarten up over a couple weeks.

Top Dawg 11-04-2015 10:37 PM

Maybe when arkansas season opens in 3 weeks they'll push a few to us.

Bluechip 11-04-2016 07:53 PM

Anyone making a youth hunt tomorrow? Let us know how it goes...

Bluechip 11-10-2016 12:14 PM

Saw a few birds late yesterday evening down in Johnson Bayou area.... may be a promising opener.

I'm so ready for Saturday that I may sleep with my hunting clothes on lol.

Reefman 10-31-2017 12:33 PM

It's that time of the year...again! GC is LOADED up with ducks...tic, tic. What y'all seeing?

all star rod 10-31-2017 12:40 PM

On SAT, when to both my leases (SW Kaplan and Pecan Islan) and saw a lot of ducks at both locations. My SW Kaplan lease was also loaded with SPECS...

Maybe this little front will bring down some new birds

all star rod 11-07-2017 11:03 AM

Taking off Thursday. Going check out things in South Kaplan and Pecan Island.

We need some freaking weather.

Hunted youth weekend on SAT SW of Kaplan and my son and his bud shot 6 BW teal. They should of had a few more. Also fog was pretty bad plus no wind.

Yes sir I hope so.

Ya'll might be alright when the shooting starts kintchen. Larry reynolds had this to say about the survey yesterday afternoon.

"We have 9 of 28 lines left to fly, all in SE LA. Finished SW and Catahoula Lake. Crunching the SW numbers now, so don't have a total, but we saw good numbers of gadwalls south of West Cove of Lake Calcasieu, on the East Cove Unit of Cameron Prairie NWR, and on Rockefeller south of Hwy 82. Another big bunch of teal was seen west of Gueydan, but off the line, and a few flocks of non-divers were stacked up on open water of White Lake and Vermilion Bay, which typically means they just arrived."

ckinchen 11-09-2017 11:57 AM

Duck E that does sound good. I am heading over there tomm to check it out.

Dogface 11-10-2017 06:30 PM

Good luck to all you guys this weekend. Stay safe out there.

I have both of my leases lined up for the 2018-2019 season.

And we are only about 3-1/2 months away from the start of Teal Season!

I am glad they moved to the pintail limit by back 2 for this year.

ckinchen 06-05-2018 06:50 AM

It's almost time to start getting ready

specktator 06-06-2018 09:22 AM

Turned loose my lease in PI this year after 10 years. Guy just kept going up on the price and the hunting was getting worse. Property just wasn't being managed properly.

Picked up a new pit blind in Klondike this year. Should be decent for specks and a good duck blind. Looking forward to the change of scenery and easier hunting! Sold my go-devil yesterday!
