LEM is a good quality product. Try to get the 15 pounder since it is a hassel to use the 5 pounder. Once you get started you have to stop and refill canister. A few deer will turn into alot of friends deer later. Its fun get together after the season. I started doing only 100 pounds for me and 3 years later im doing over 800 pounds for friends.

definately get a good one. I had a cheap one and cussed every time i used it. I ended up making a water pressurized one out of pvc.

NORTHERN TOOLS HAS ONE FOR $79 ON SALE. I grind several deer a year, make sausage and boudin. I have had several cheap electrics and hand cranks( they suck unless you have several friends to help). The electric one from Northern tools normally runs about $129. It will grind a deer as fast as you can cut it from the bone and feed it. Gristle, ligamnets and all. Shipping is usually pretty fast. I don't think you can go wrong with it for a home grinder.

How do you make a sausage stuffer out of PVC??

meathauler 12-24-2010 01:03 PM

I would like to know that how that PVC stuffer is built and how much is the cost of the project. I might try to build one for feb when the stuffing begins!!

Here are a few pics of the one I made.

Is the air connection threaded into the pipe? Where did you get the top piece with the o-ring? Did you fab the solid piece that is screwed into top piece? How do you keep the air from bypassing the sausage? Thanks

Dink 01-03-2011 10:32 AM

Damn Shane!! That's cool!!

It is water that pushes the sausage. I fabbed the top piece and the piston and bottom plug out of 1" starboard. (ebay by the sq foot) the piston is doubled with an oring in each piece and the pvc is tapped into the starboard.
