The "B" Series is a badazz. What's the weight difference, Bruce?

SULPHITE 07-16-2009 11:11 PM

scene one...

zoom in to the sea fox cruising across big lake. On the front of vessel sits a mexican/black mix midget with blond hair.

W has a set of binoculars checking for birds working...but he finds himself staring at the bowed legs of this mythical creature just 1 ft in front of him ( mind you shes in the front of the boat)

He looks away from his beauty for a moment and spots the biggest group of birds he has ever seen...drool is forming on the edge of his lips...he tells his darlin "hold on baby we about own this whole lake" and sets a course with the sea fox at blinding speed

After trolling over to the birds he is still taken aback by the beauty of sensual morsal on his front deck. he asks his lady friend "have you ever fished with a waterloo?? but wait...have you ever fished with a waterloo and a curado???????"

She looks him in the eyes with a her finger in her mouth and says "My W I didn't know what you were packing!!!"

"Get ready my little RR...bout to give you lesson right here on big lake"

Lets just say the bottom of the boat was teeming with 12" trout and sweet midget love making

LaAngler 07-16-2009 11:12 PM

B = 9.1 oz D = 7.5 oz

Damn, the "B" is heavier that a Calais 200....almost as heavy as a DC. That 100D is a jewel. I'll bet you can cast a Corky from Hebert's to Commissary.

Nice reel! How's that thing compare to the Shimano Core? Price and weight ?

LaAngler 07-17-2009 09:08 AM

reel

1 Attachment(s)
the 100MG core had 5 bearings i think weighing in at 6.1 oz, the chronarch 100D has 7 bearings and is 7.5 oz, but has an all aluminum frame and sideplates. same line capacity. 50 dollar price difference

now the core 50 is out, it's like $379 and weighs 5.5 oz , but has more bearings i think

:eek::eek: thats one sweeet reel (one in picture)

cmdrost 07-17-2009 09:22 AM

http://fish.shimano.com/publish/cont...chronarch.html

Yeah I had to go online to check it out. I have the old 50mg....love it and have had no problems with it in salt. Too bad they stopped making them. Upgraded to the core and love it as well. Both super light on the waterloo rods. I like the one you just got too though!

LaAngler 07-17-2009 11:48 AM

i think this reel has some brass gears in it that may be better in salt than some of the other reels, not sure what the core has

but that adds to the weight too

huntin fool 07-17-2009 11:51 AM

that core looks bad to the bone.

Capt. Ryan Rachunek 07-17-2009 12:23 PM

I've got two of the CORE 50's on the way.....

COREs have aluminum main gear with a brass drive gear....

I gave 'em all away. I ain't wastin' Power Pro on 'em. :)

SULPHITE 07-17-2009 10:52 PM

Salty are you sure you don't want a waterloo and a curado...they throw in a midget for an order of two or more!

Hopedale Hustler 07-18-2009 11:50 AM

salty id surely like one of them curados you give away..

LaAngler 07-18-2009 03:19 PM

Well here is the report on the first time out with the reel.

I already like it better than the B series chronarch, much lighter, very smooth drag, pretty much same smoothness, cast a little further i think, palms great! I approve!

FlatoutFishin 07-18-2009 03:39 PM

Sweet looking reel. I've got 3 50mgs I'm still trying to wear out before I buy another. (At least thats what I'm telling her)
They say these things corrode, but with my semi-annual corrosionX treatment and cleaning I've never had a problem. 2 are going on 3 years old now.
I picked the last one up this year thru Tacklewarehouse.com when they hit liquidation status for only $186.
