Kistlers rods

I bought a 6"9 rod from kistler fish with one time set the hook on a fish and it broke in the middle of the rod. I used the rod one time and it broke called kistler they said that they would replace it for 70 bucks . What kind of warranty is that .

"W" 03-22-2011 09:28 PM

Those are some nice high dollar rods...I used one with helium filled in the blank...extreme light...but to rich for my taste

LPfishnTIM 03-22-2011 09:43 PM

thats no warranty at all they're selling another rod to you at wholesale price instead of retail. Obviously there was some defect in the rod if this is a true story, Rod warrantys are a joke, shimano has a no questions asked, in store, swap for a new rod warranty on some of there high end rods, and Falcon has has replaced some caras at no cost for some guys that I fish with. I know St. croix has given me the same "deal" instead of a warranty for my rod breaking. I've read the run around with castaway too!

specknation 03-22-2011 10:23 PM

Skeeter what model Kistler rod broke on you, I am looking to try the new
Z-bone Model

Lmao I wasn't going to say anything but since Chris said it... I promise that rod wasn't helium infused...

toodeep 03-23-2011 08:24 AM

i had one and broke it on 2nd trip with it and called for repair and they told me to send them 70 bucks, i ll go back to shimano.

Ray 03-23-2011 08:28 AM

You forgot to add shipping to and from the factory.
Might as well chunk it and buy a good one.

I had the same issue with All Star Rods. Except it was $50 instead of $70.

DUCKGOGETTER 03-23-2011 08:32 AM

Shimano is all i fish with for 2 reasons. I love the way they perform and the warranty

DUCKGOGETTER 03-23-2011 08:34 AM

Must of been refurbished! Jusy kidding

What part of I used one you don't understand??? Never said I bought one, had one,,,said I used one.... So only way I can use one would be for someone else to have it??? Right??? Try again

PUREBAY2200 03-23-2011 11:09 AM

Ur missin the point.... I don't know *** u are arguing on that last post.... Lol
My point was that u made a completely redicilous comment about a rod. Regardless of if Ur friend told u or not..... It's absurd to actually believe that helium.... A gas that floats objects would b used inside of a rod..... Lmao!!!!
That fact that u believed that enough to post it on here just Cracks me up.

"W" 03-23-2011 11:14 AM

Why could you knot use it? A light dose would not float a rod!!! Use your brian,,,you think if you filled at gas tank with helium the truck would float???? No....this is not far fetch to add a shot of helium into a. Blank and make it lighter!!! 5 cc of helium would not float a rod..sorry you can't understand that

First off... It's " not" learn to spell.
2 I'm not even gonna argue with mr wizard. U are so caught up n bn right it's redicilous. The original arguement was that helium was or was not it the rod.... NOT the possiblity of putting helium n a rod. For once stay on topic.
Admit u were wrong, and next time u want to educate people about a topic do urself and the rest of us a favor and read about it. Ur bogus statement are becoming redicilous and makin u look completely unbelievable as a source of information.

A few years back I fished 2 Oilman's Tournaments in Toledo. When u registered they gave u a free Kistler rod. Don't remember the models. The first one I got my dad broke the tip. (don't remember how, never tried to return it) The second one I got, I traded Asterisk for one of his Cast Away rods. :smokin:

I just talked to a guy who builds rods.... He gave me a new blank that waterPOO is using..... Said that he buys it for 80$ but waterPOO lists it @ 200$..... I told him something didn't smell right about that.
He then told mr that waterPOO fills the blank with methane gas...... That's the reason for the higher price!!!

Everyone has an opinion. I'll put the Light Action Skeleton up against any Waterloo. Castaway has been first in multiple categories when it comes to rods, (split grip, microguides, microwave guides, etc)they just don't have the marketing budget to go along with it. A rod they built (for another company) won top prize three years running at ICast... Waterloo is a great rod, but not far superior!

Plus the Skeleton is made with real Pilgrim Skeletons in the blank:p
