New Swamp People thoughts?

What did everyone think about the new season of swamp people? Personally I was kinda disappointed. I may be mistaken but I was pretty sure the first gator that Troy caught was a replay from last year? Seemed way over board on the sensationalizing. Don't get me wrong I love this show and will keep watching it, but it just seemed a little over the top. And the new guy who catches em by hand, give me a break. LDWF has been catching them like that for years. He will gain my respect when he boats one over 5 foot. Let me know what ya'll think.

SULPHITE 04-01-2011 10:45 AM

i lost my crap when the toothless son got bit!!! LOL!

fullrutt 04-01-2011 10:47 AM

I like how the producers use gators already shot or smaller then what they pull in the boat to say it's a 11 footer!!!!

Also did anyone notice that when they were filming going down the bayou they filmed why're cranes flying off from the bank and the background noise was snowgeese sounds as they flew off!!

I respect all the gator guys but the producers are a joke at editing!!

fullrutt 04-01-2011 10:48 AM

White cranes!! Sorry

SULPHITE 04-01-2011 10:51 AM

yeah they show smaller gators when they are fighting a big one! Thats hollywood trickery!!

SaltERedneck 04-01-2011 10:56 AM

We got a chree breaka.... not a chree shaka!!! Choot em! Am i wrong or did i hear that old man say " i am 82 and I hope to still do this for two more years when I am 85."

joshdomingue 04-01-2011 10:57 AM

yea it was kind of the same thing as last season .....I was expecting somthing a little different!!!!! Same thing i said last night ....... let him grab a big boy like that and then he'll be the man!!!!

duckman444 04-01-2011 11:01 AM

The guy catching by hand he can go. As far as the rest of them it will only get better. I hope lol. To many camera tricks. They are never fighting the same gator that comes in the boat.

That was Trapper Joe's dead father, Joe was reminising about his dad and said he hoped he could last as long as him. If the hollywood homo's would just get out of the way there would be more than enough drama to go around. If anyone would follow me around during a fishing or hunting trip, they could sell the rights and make some chedda. Always some drama in da bote.;)

RatherBFishin 04-01-2011 11:24 AM

Anyone notice the Owl Hoot like every 2-3 minutes. Most of the time while they are running their boat. I agree that Hollywood needs to keep their editors in check. But you can't blame them for making money. Its all the people from outside of our area that make them the big bucks. They never get off the concrete long enough to have outdoor common sense!

Yea to us what they do is kind of normal ......... but the outsiders or out of staters think they are frickin crazy........ Have an Aunt that was born and raised in Kansas City .... i thought she was gonna have a heart attack crabbing!!

weedeater 04-01-2011 11:53 AM

Anyone notice how they show them shootin with one gun then after the shot they have a different gun or how they show them runnin one boat and motor but they will stop to get a gator and be in a diff boat rig

The toothless boy sure could teach the new guy a thing or two about catchin live gators, he must have thought he was noodlein for gators or tryin to use his hand for bait

I noticed that too......but, did you see how old the video was? Filmed in 83? I think he meant 2 more years and retire in 1985........or he could just be dumb, idk.....

Bluechip 04-01-2011 12:45 PM

I enjoyed the show as always. I'm not going to be a critic about the show because it's not made for the people of Louisiana, it's for the rest of the world. I hope these guys can make a small fortune off what they love to do....Good for them.

Yeah it caught me off guard... along with the HUGE fish flyin out the water. Thought i was watching the redneck fishing tournament. i was waiting to see em snag em with a net. :*****:

#1 rated show on history channel ever . They are makin some cash.

barbarian 04-01-2011 01:57 PM

The guys are just some good ole boys in the right place at the right time and I hope they cash in for the mother load, but the editing is a freaking joke. I'm not sure if I can stand one more narrator claim the alligator is attacking the boat or show them playing around acting like they are trying to shoot a 10+' when it is only a 5'. I guess the rest of the world doesn't have a clue.

blackmamba 04-01-2011 02:11 PM

Yall are taking this way too serious... To me, the best part about the show Is the father/son teams. Gotta love the southern family tradition....them poor gators are gonna need some water after eating the chicken with "gravy" that Trapper Joe put on there. Did you see how much cayenne went in there?? Damn!!

Wide Open 04-01-2011 04:23 PM

Blue chip, and Black mamba, I like your ways of thinking. Let them good ol'e boys have their day to shine, and maybe cash in, because dair aint nottin pleasant about running gator lines. Been dair dun dat dont wanna go back neither.

MattW 04-01-2011 10:10 PM

I like the new (old) 115 yammy with the tiller steer on the boat. Next year it will be a 200 four stroke tiller steer on a naval destroyer. I also noticed Junior was driving through a fenced driveway and not back to a double wide. Good on them making more money and still hunting gators.

This is just an observation....they're all drivin tiller steers correct?? Isn't there a new law on the books that the driver of a tiller steer HAS to wear a lifejacket?? Somebody please correct me if im wrong!!:help::cool:

I think that is if its under 16ft. I might be wrong though I wear mine regardless even when fishing so the game warden doesn't have to ask if I have one in the boat!

thats what the rule book says, boat under 16ft requires pfd if tiller steer and over 16ft requires a throw float

southern151 04-02-2011 09:09 AM

You don't have to wear a pfd when commercial fishing nor are you required to use a kill switch while in the act of commercial fishing. You do have to use the kill switch going to and from your sites though.

Source ldwf agent who stopped me while crawfishing.

you have to remember though people up nort think we are all toothless and web toed down here so it fits the hollywood thought process of our image as a bunch of crazy coon... idiots

Hopedale Hustler 04-02-2011 10:17 AM

Or maybe there are more important things in life than his tooth like his 4 kids maybe some school clothes and baby formula for them...I know that'd be my thinking in his shoes...my family comes before my teeth

biggun 04-02-2011 02:24 PM

Guy! Yes ! I agree a little disappointing with the editing. But it will get better. In next weeks episode a lady(Ms. Choate) from Pecan Island, (in Vermilion Parish for those who may not know here P. I. is located) will join the fun. She has been gator hunting before most of the cast.

skinman 04-05-2011 09:24 PM

I like the show. Ain't got no complaints, but I'm just a simple redneck...
I bet y'all that Clint is the guy poaching in Troy's territory. They said he was starting his own business. Why not get his own boat and get a full slice of gator hunting pie?

Garfish 04-06-2011 07:20 AM

I'll keep watchin it. Got my wife hooked on it too. For some reason she's all into these kinda shows now -Swamp People, Top Shot, Ax Men, Deadliest Catch.....

Makes me homesick when I see all my old fishin and trappin territory on Swamp People I used to fish in w/ my Paw Paw back in the day.

BIRD DOG 04-07-2011 04:10 PM

I know the new guy,he lives right down the road from me.Yall wouldnt believe the things the producers do!Also they are not making as much as you would think. Now the guys from last year Im sure are makin it from other things like shirts, hats, commercials, etc.

BIRD DOG 04-07-2011 04:11 PM

Also for those of us that know that most of it is bs for the show, stop and think about the other shows. We know nothing about crabbing in the berring sea and to us that looks insane!! Thats hollywood!

Canepole225 04-07-2011 04:24 PM

editing

makes you wonder if any of the history stuff they show
is accurate

you can't fake wet and cold....the rest is probly bs

Garfish 04-07-2011 09:19 PM

Figgered it was Jr. in Troy's area when they thought it was poachers. As soon as they said Troy was in Big Pigeon, I knew that was the case.

Ever notice the smirk on Jacob's face ( Troy's son), you know they are telling him what to do to make the shot look better. He just smirks and plays along. After all the spinning by the gator, and the "aiming" down the rifle barrel, he just puts the end of the rifle barrel on the gators head and pulls the trigger. Anyone who has been gator hunting knows that is how it is done, no "aiming" necessary. As mentioned before, if you don't know, it don't matter, and the show is all about the entertainment anyway. It is TV, and has to be entertaining or no one would watch. My seven year old loves the show!!!!!!!!!!!
