Talked to some guys.....Said they left Heberts and turned around and went home....Winds were kicking and water was BAD.........

Evans 08-01-2009 07:34 PM

Well I wish I would have turned around and went home. We started at 5:30 this morning ran all the way to the south end around long point got one small trout. Went around nine mile and the water muddy up a bit found a few birds but just ladyfish. Fished down the channel heading north and picked up about six small reds more reds. Water looked good from nine mile north.WIND WAS KICKIN

huntin fool 08-01-2009 08:50 PM

well we going in morning winds should lay down??

Deadly D 08-01-2009 09:28 PM

We tried to make a trip offshore today.Got out about & miles and turned that baby around. Said it was going to be 2 to 4 and calming down by afternoon. WRONG 3 to 5 with a 7 every once and awhile. Water down at the jetties was dirty but North was better.

We was in a 28ft and it wasnt pretty. Yes we could have made it out 60 miles but we would have been beat up to no end

i'll be there, in a bass boat though...

if rough, we will run and hide behind some cover...it says 4-7 how bad should it get??

yak'em-n-stack'em 08-01-2009 09:40 PM

if you can make it into the wiers maybe try the marsh back there?

your gonna need to find a marsh to go to i think. If i were you i would go the other way and drive an extra 30 mins or so and go to the houma area

yak'em-n-stack'em 08-01-2009 09:41 PM

Fool don't worry will get Wednesday if it sucks tomorrow!!! Know a few spots to get out the wind!!! Porpus will be bucking

Ray 08-01-2009 09:50 PM

I went behind the weirs Wednesday and it was still too windy to use the trolling motor. Had to use the anchor. It all depends on the wind direction.

jsmoke222000 08-01-2009 10:04 PM

Try fishing here if it is windy.

i think i might know what ya talking about...that spot would be calm?

jsmoke222000 08-01-2009 10:24 PM

head north from heberts. There are some camps on the right. You will see a small rock wall on the side of a canal just past the last set of camps on the right. About 150 - 200 yards past that there will be a small cove to the right that has a cut that leads into the marsh. This cut is pretty good on an outgoing tide.

Try that on http://www.bing.com/maps

jsmoke222000 08-01-2009 10:33 PM

You will have to get right up in the cove before you will notice the cut going into the marsh. There is a small island as soon as you get into the cut. The water is very shallow around the island. There is always bait there. Finger mullet & shad. The initial curve to the left is where I catch most of my fish. The water is 10-15 ft in the first curve depending on the tide. Great flounder spot.
