One of the 2cool guys suggested that Mirr-O-Lure might discontinue the Corky line. "Buy out the competition." I think that most of the religious Corky users might consider the product tainted...another "knock off". I could see that eventually happening if sales dropped, although, that seems like an awful lot of money just to get rid of 'em.

cmdrost 09-17-2009 08:41 AM

I would think Mirrolure would start mass producing them given the popularity...seriously doubt they bought him out to discontinue the product. Now who knows if it will be the same product???

Guys like me that have never even thrown a Corky will never know if their the same or not. I understand that these products will not go to market unless Mr. Brown approves them. Hopefully, Mirr-O-lure will not screw this up. I still can'r believe they sold out but..."everything has a price".

I kinda hope Mirrolure will figure out how to make them more durable. One redfish or a couple trout will ruin it.

I'm not too surprised he finally sold. He's gotten older and would like an easy retirement.

exspeck big specks 09-17-2009 09:38 PM

I am just going to use the TSunami knock offs! Until I run out of my supply of Paul Browns hand made corky's. Sad day, he told me he was going to take his technique for making the best big trout I have ever used to the grave... He is a great man and invented my favorite bait on big lake. Mirrorlure had never made a good bait in my opinion. The catch 5 or any other "pretty" baits they make will get blown out of the water by a corky anyday. Catch 2000's are garbage also!!!!!!!!!

Two words : Spooks & Corky's

Tsunamis aren't even close to the corky's. Float em side by side in your sink and you'll see the difference. Tsunamis sink like a turd in a churn...

"W" 09-17-2009 10:08 PM

Catch 2000's Catch ton of big trout....I will take a side by side trip Corky vs Catch 2000 any day!!! Who is game???? No money just braging rights...........

mikedatiger 09-17-2009 10:22 PM

****ie Colburn, my favorite guide on Sabine (sponsored by Mirrolure) just posted this on his site:
While on the subject of MirrOlure, Mike Haring of Mainstream Marketing called me last night and confirmed the rumor that MirrOlure has indeed bought out Paul Brown and the Corky line. Paul will continue to oversee the operation for a while and there will be no changes outside of the possible addition of some new colors. Same wire harness, same plastic, paint, design, etc.
I think it will be sometime after Jan. 1, that we start seeing them on the shelf in any outdoor departments that handle the rest of the MirrOlure line. This is great news for trout fishermen that live any distance at all from Houston. You never knew what Paul had left in stock until you walked in the door. No more swimming for Corkies hung up a little deeper than your waders!
