Mother-in-law has cancer

My mother-in-law was diagnosed with ovarian cancer today. I'm at a complete loss and my wife is completely torn apart. My wife's grandmother passed from this same cancer. I have never had a family member have cancer so I have no idea what to expect Anyone who knows my mother-in-law knows how great a person she is. I have no idea how to tell my kids this news. Some of you guys might know her and her husband. They are the Quirks from the lake Charles area. Please keep us in your prayers and wishes. Im so lost and can't get away from work to stay with my wife and mother-in-law.

Also, what stage is it in, if they caught it early may be ok.

Go to Houston.

Jason, the feelings that you and the family members will have are like a rollercoaster. Seek out support in friends, family, and faith and know that tough roads are ahead, but also cherish the good times. It's only been a few days since I buried my father in law from cancer and I wish we would have done a few things different, including some of the treatment. In the end, God called him from us and it was meant to be.

We are here in our own little SC family to offer moral support, but right now you have to be that "corner post" to your wife and her family. I was very close to my pawnlaw, so if you need anything don't hesitate. Good luck and prayers sent!

Sorry to hear that. Cancer did in my grandpa and I have a great uncle dealing with it now. I am sure that many share my sentiment, but I hate cancer.

Houston Tx!! You will be amazed at the care they give. That place works 24/7/365 and has patients from literally all over the world! They do cancer for breakfast so she will be in good hands, worry but rest assured they will do their best for her and the family. Plenty of success stories so call me if you want to hear them Jason.

You'll never be dealt more than you can handle...even when it seems overwhelming. Prayers to your family.

Ya need somethin, let me know.

bull1134 07-11-2012 08:42 PM

my mom got her port for her kemo treatments out last week. Her 3rd bout with cancer, and in a different place each time. Nothing will matter as much as family and friends support. every treatment, every doctor's visit, it really helps them to have someone, or everyone that can be there with them, there with them, it's scary. a positive attitude, and the knowledge that she wasn't alone is what my mom told me helped her through it. I feel for you and your family, I know how it is. love and laughter, even in this hardest of times, is just as important as doctors and medicine. I pray for yall.
