Nautic Star???

Ok guys, so I am suppose to go sign on the dotted line for my new Nautic Star. I am buying that first Shallow Bay version of the 2110se posted in the boating section.

My question is this, I know there are a few guys on here that dont seem to be very positive about Nautic Star and im wondering why?

Is there something in the same price range (low 40s rigged out) that I should be considering?

PUREBAY2200 07-11-2012 02:29 PM

ive fished in the 21, 22 and 24..... they are all great! no compalints. great, ride, nice layout, plenty of room & storage.

go ride and fish in the boat, bring ur family..... let them have the input......

our opinions are just that..... opinions...... it aint our money, our family in the boat and our decision..... if u and the family like the boat..... BUY IT!!.
but if u find things that u dont like and will b a potention issue, concern..... keep lookin.
thats my .02

Just sold my 07 2110 with f150. Was never impressed with the ride of the boat in any chop, always wanted more power, rig is pretty narrow, etc. Nautic star is not top of the line and orginal owners feel that pain on resale. I bought mine used last year, i rigged it out with everything you can think of before i ended up selling couple months ago. sold for 22.5. I think your better off buying a used one if thats the rig you really want and see how that goes. some love the 2110 and some dont, if you fall in as one of the ones that dont, then your losses will be much easier to swallow. just my thoughts

getonfish 07-11-2012 02:54 PM

I just wanted to make sure there wasnt some kind of issues with the boats that I hadnt read about. I am having a little bit of an issue with the fact that the 150 is the highest rated motor you can put on it but other than that I like the boat. The negative comments I have seen on here in the past are kind of making me a little gun shy all of a sudden. I am wondering if that extra money for the puerbay 2200 isnt so bad after all.

inchspinner 07-11-2012 02:55 PM

Theres a seat for ebery butt, kbolton is selling like new black jack....cream of the crop for less than the 2110....but the bj will hold all value....you like it, buy it cootis

mriguy 07-11-2012 02:56 PM

Friend of mine has a Nautic Star 22 tounament edition with a 250 Yamaha that is a great boat

PUREBAY2200 07-11-2012 02:56 PM

The 21 is a more narrow boat then the 22 & 24. Which effects the ride and stability.

PUREBAY2200 07-11-2012 02:59 PM

I had to purebay 2200; the first edition.
Lots of electrical , plumbing issues.
From what I've herd all the kinks were worked out. I think the fact that I bought the boat from a horrible dealer n baton rouge magnified all the complivations!!
But the ride was awesome!! The speed with a 225 was 62.
Layout was great .

The blackjack listed on here would b a great purchase!!
Can't go wrong with a blackjack!!

inchspinner 07-11-2012 02:59 PM

Your the only one thats rode in a shallow....buy it and go fish

If that BJ had jump seats in the rear deck I would have already been all over it.

PaulMyers 07-11-2012 03:00 PM

Call Lake Area Marine @ 337-433-7019. Talk to Kyle or Gerald about the Frontier line of boats or let them give you a price on that BlueWave Pure Bay. Good guys and great service, I don't think you will be disappointed. Tell them I referred you.

jchief 07-11-2012 03:08 PM

I think a 210 Frontier would be in that price range. I really like mine. Very good ride and dry

Jadams 07-11-2012 03:14 PM

I got the 24 te I got no complaints

If 40k is your budget, I'd buy the fully lined Frontier 2104 with a 200. It has the jump seats. Very very close the the blackjack. But again thats just MY opinion. I don't know anything about the new shallow water Nautic you are speaking of.

IMO if you are gun shy then don't make the purchase. The last thing you want is buyer's remorse on a purchase that big...

I approve this message

cduhon 07-11-2012 04:32 PM

Agree with Chas on this. The new frontiers are very nice and are cheaper. I was impressed with the new fully lined boat. I know several people who just switched over to them and love them.

I just bought my Frontier and I love it! Plenty of room great ride and great service from Lake Area!

wetaline 07-11-2012 05:00 PM

We have the 21' and wouldn't trade it for anything. Went to Bird Island at Grand Isle and on the way back a bad storm kicked up. That boat took the waves really well!! I have a bad back so I need to have a smooth ride and that is definitely it. It's all a matter of opinion. Get what you and your family are comfortable in. That's waht's most important. Good luck!!

PUREBAY2200 07-11-2012 05:06 PM

Is it worth going with the 200 over the 150 on the 21 frontier.... For cruising not top end.
Say 35-40 mph

Say 35-40 mph

I cruise at 30 ish mph at 4000 rpm and top out about 45. I was told you would cruise 40 ish with the 200 SHO

PUREBAY2200 07-11-2012 05:38 PM

id like to see a comparison on the fuel consumption of the 200 sho, 200 opti , 200 yammy 4 stroke and 150 yammy 4 stroke @ 40 mph.

hadabite 07-11-2012 06:01 PM

I have an 07 2110 with a zuki 175 and have no problems with the boat. Ride is great and dry!

Look at the performance bulletins. I guarantee you will get better mpg with a 200 on frontier 21 than with a 150 @ 40 mph

PUREBAY2200 07-11-2012 06:23 PM

dont have it on the bulletin......

I believe this.

PUREBAY2200 07-11-2012 06:26 PM

i know when i repowered my purebay, i went from a 150 2 stroke to a 225 4 stroke, and i could run 45 mph with the bigger engine and burn the same as i did at 35 with the smaller engine.
i hated that 2 stroke 150..... and it went thru oil like crazy.

wishin i was fishin 07-11-2012 08:17 PM

getonfish, I feel your pain. I went through the same senario, I have a 2110 on order.

I have been trolling the classifieds on 5 different websites for 3 years looking at boats as well as reading posts etc. With some exceptions, Nautic Stars dont stay on the market long and bring a fair price. I have talked to many dealers, mechanics, and people in the industry and have not had one time where anyone came back with anything negative on Nautic Star. Only issue is manufacturing lead time, they cant make them fast enough. If it is not in stock you are 6-8 weeks out.

when I saw the layout of the 2110 SE it was time. It had the layout I had been looking for. Only change is I am going with the new Merc fourstroke 150 instead of the Yamaha. Only problem now is that I have to wait until Aug 15th to know if I made the right decision.

Just remember, its only money, you will make more. Good luck!

kveille 07-11-2012 08:33 PM

I also have a 2110SE on order and have read nothing but good reviews. I was looking to buy used, but I had a few bad experiences when looking at boats. I decided to buy new so I can get what I wanted.

Kenner18 07-11-2012 09:00 PM

I guide out of the 2110 and dont have any issues ,other than it being somewhat small for 4 adults to fish . The only time we get wet is in a serious cross chop, which you would get wet in any other boat out there. For a family boat I dont think you can go wrong with the 2110. I currently have a 24 Nautic Star on order ,only because I need the extra room for clients.

PUREBAY2200 07-11-2012 09:27 PM

Capt trey; what u gonna do with ur current boat?

Thanks for the input guys, I talked to Kyle at LAM this afternoon. I'm going to check out the frontier 2104 just to see what it has to offer before I pull the trigger on anything.

As far as motor size goes you can look at a lot of boats that have 2 different motor options on the yamaha performance bulletin site. All of the bigger motors suck down more gas at all speeds.

bsoileau 07-12-2012 03:42 PM

I have a 150 Suzuki on my frontier and at 4000 rpm's I am going 35 to 36 with full tank and 3 adults.

Kyle hints that the 175 Zuk is faster on the Frontier than the 200 and about 2k cheaper. Almost same HP on a lighter block.

I'd look into that engine!

dang....jcheif says he is doing 30 ish at 4000 with his Yammy. I'm a little slower than him. Time to ditch the 4 blade prop....haha

I understand the Suzuki's get better fuel economy. Top end is not quite as good from what I hear though. They all have trade offs.

jchief 07-12-2012 05:08 PM

That is with a full load Chas, 3 people, full gas, etc.

Kyle told me the same thing today. I really liked the 2104 frontier. I will have to order it and it will be about 4 weeks. On the bright side they are willing to put the new 2013 Blackjack upholstery in it.

I also went by and looked at the NS again just so they would both be fresh on my mind only to find out that it has already been rigged up to my specs and is ready to go. OOPS hope I dont piss anyone off if I decide over the next couple of days to go the other way.

I can give you some info,,,my good friend owned and just sold a 22ft. He had to send it back 2 times to the factory due to transom seperation! and both times tehy didnt fix it, only fixed all the spider cracked gel coat. So the last time he brought it to a fiberglass shop locally and they fixed it...

Fiberglass guy said it delaminated caused they didnt do it right from teh get go...also,,,he claimed it to be a very wet and rough ride...

all i can give..

getonfish 07-13-2012 10:23 AM

I really hope you went with the frontier, they are sweet boats I think anyone would love paired with a Suzuki.
If I wasn't guiding I would definitely have a frontier or BlackJack!

kcinnick 07-18-2012 10:24 PM

Anybody know where I can get some detailed information about the frontier 210? It is almost as big as the Seahunt BX22 and looks to cost a few grand less and gets good reviews. Only thing is, I think the NauticStar I am looking at might be a little better with more seating to keep the wife happy.

2ndamendment 07-18-2012 10:24 PM

What outboard and HP did he go with?
