Cameron Parish Ticket

I know alot of you are from around the Lake Charles area. Do any of you have some kind of hook up that ya'll can help a fella get a speeding ticket "taken care of". I got it at 2:30 yesterday morning in Cameron. Any help is very much appreciated! :help:

I was born and raised there. I lived there for 36 years. If you are not from there, you are not going to get out of paying for it. But if you talk to the Sheriff or D.A., a lot of times you can pay just the court cost and it not go on your record.
The current Sheriff is pretty strict. Locals were overlooked when they ran boat trailers without license and lights. Now they are ticketed. It is hard to get out of paying. The tax base is so low since Rita and Ike drove everyone out of Cameron. The only way to make money down there for the Sheriff's Dept. is with the tickets.
Court cost run around $100, but that was before Rita. Not sure now.
I will make a few calls and get back to you.

Thanks a bunch! I knew it would be hard, just because of the reasons you stated.

I got one doing 79 in 55!! also...Due Oct 19....Hook a Bro UP...

Ray 09-23-2009 10:41 AM

I am working on it. You cannot get it fixed thru the Sheriff anymore. You have to go to the D.A.'s office. The Assist. D.A. was my divorce lawyer. I am working on Landy right now and I will hook you up too.
*** you go so fast down there. It is a well known speed trap, like Plaquamines and LaFourche Parishes.

Ray 09-23-2009 10:41 AM

Landry, check your PM again.

longsidelandry 09-23-2009 10:44 AM

got it, just sent you one back

64 or less and you should be ok in the 55 zones. Anything in the 45 or lower zones you had better do the posted limit. Been driving there to go offshore for 15 yrs and got the scoop.

Ray 09-23-2009 10:48 AM

They usually let you go within 10mph over the limit, unless you are in town or in a school zone. They set their radar at 10 mph over the limit at 55 mph and below that they set it at 5 mph over the limit.
I have a call in to the D.A.'s office, waiting for her to call back.

Edit: She is not in the office today. I will have call back tomorrow.

I usually don't go over in the 45 and lower areas but I wasn't paying attention to where I was and of course as soon as I noticed I still had my cruise set on 55 and I was in a 45...here comes the cop around the curve.

entrapment?

they forced you to drive over the speed limit then pulled you over for it?

Dink 09-23-2009 12:16 PM

I've had a cop ride my butt real close on 2 lane near Breaux Bridge......I sped up to get some room between us and he pulled me over, gave me a ticket.....I was 17 at the time, wonder if he did that on purpose???

I had the same thing happen to me in Delcambre, he told me that there's never any reason to speed.:pissed:

Dink 09-23-2009 12:22 PM

I should have citezen arrested his *** and made him give himself a ticket for tailgating............Just like Ol' Gomer did to Barney.......

whunter29 09-23-2009 01:19 PM

To all you people who travel threw Cameron be advised the cops down there are a$$holes. I have been driving for 16+years and i got my first ever ticket in cameron parish where 82 turns and goes north. I drive for a living and when the cop pulled me over I admitted to him that I was speeding because I was trying to figure out which dock my load went to. I had conflicting data on different papers. They were done redoing the hwy or road that goes infront of air logistics and roto craft and the cop was sitting in front of carolines. grocery. I had my cruise set at 55mph but the cop said I was doing 64 mph. You tell me how I can drive a truck with the cruise set all the time but get a ticket for doing 64 in a 45 when cruise was set at 55. I admit that I was speeding and I was wrong for it but I wonder when was the last time he had callibrated his radar. I told him that I had been driving for over 16 years and he told me you are getting a ticket tonight and he asked me to go sit in my truck. I complied with everything he asked me to do and still got hit with a 135$ fine all because I was distracted at 2:00am in the middle of no where. Lesson learned when you go threw Cameron drive the spped limit or less and if you need to talk on the phone pull off the road so as to not get distracted and or miss the speed limit changes.

How about this one for ballsy, my best friend in high school was a preacher's kid. The two of us drove from Lake Charles to Destin the summer before our Senior year to visit some friends of his, we had to leave early because of a hurricane that was headed for Pensacola so we went back thru Meridian to avoid the storm. On the way back we were passing by some little hole in the wall town that his dad used to preach at, we were driving down this little 2 lane highway and there was a MS state trooper driving like 53 in front of us, so my buddy PASSES him, I'm like, dude what are you doing? He said watch this when the blue lights went on... Cop pulled us over and asked what the hurry was, my friend says, my dad used to be the pastor at Podunk Baptist Church and we were going to stop by and visit. Cop looks at him and says well don't be in such a hurry and gets back in his patrol car and leaves. My friend looked at me and tells me that that happens to him all the time.

Did they have a lil trap set up? 1 cop on the over pass speed gunin you, 2 others hiding on other side of over pass? When i was coming back from skeet shoot tourney that had that set up, in that area!!

whunter29 09-23-2009 07:29 PM

Yeah I saw that speed trap set up on I 10 Saturday afternoon where they put one state trooper on top of the Lacasine overpass and they had four down below writing tickets. I must say that setup works way better than having one sit in the car one the side of the road. I wish I could get a trooper to do ride with me down I 10 and write all of the overly aggressive drivers up.

Longside hope you can get it fixed or reduced.....Man I cannot believe that the LSU bumper stickers on your vehicle did not earn you a free pass!!:grinpimp:

I was spotted at 78 in a 55 in Cameron Parish but since I wasn't paying attention when his lights came on I pulled over to his position, he hadn't even started his car, big laugh, he was one of my solders in DS-1990, I caught a brake, no ticket but slower in Cameron Parish, hooked up my Radar Unit and ran with it after that.
