I made my secong fishing trip with my new Billy Stick Spiral rod, and il have to say that I LOVE it... When it comes time to buy another rod, it will be a Billystix... I love the way these guys cast, you can also tell the difference when the fish pulls drag and how you dont hear the string rubbing against ya pole. I can defanantly tell a difference for the better...

Awesome rod Billy

good job Cat

Ray 09-23-2009 08:27 PM

I have been wearing my Stix rod out too. I use it every chance I get.
Can't wait to get my other one. It chunks 1/8 oz. weights pretty dang good.
I like fishing with lighter lead heads. For some reason, the lighter lead heads catch more fish.
I only have a big "Joe Tourist" type camera. I don't want to bring it fishing.
I need to take a few pictures of my new rod with a fish on.

We caught a 4 man limit of reds in grand lake a few weeks back, and the water was also fresh and super clear. You could watch them chase a rattle trap down and smoke it.

hi daddy
nice bunch of reds you have there my friend, thanks for the sweet words on the billystix,
i knew you would like the stix once you got the feel of the wacky way that i build them but they work, and you get better fish control with the spiral and like you said your line never touches your rod blank at any time.
it sure makes me feel good to see you guys taking a liking at last to what i do so maybe i am now at last getting a little more intreast in my work and thats a good thang.
thanks for allowing billystix custom rods to build for you. and if you want one of those camo rods just give me a shout and i will take a $100 ogg one or 2 for you if you like.

Ray 09-24-2009 10:56 AM

What is the difference in the Viper and the rod you built for me?

bay_slayer 09-24-2009 12:11 PM

How much is this "Viper Rod" you speak of???

billystix custom rods 09-24-2009 12:38 PM

the viperstix

the viperstix is built on an american tavkle blank if i build it with the low profile titanium guides it will sell for $250 the camo sells for $300 but right now i can build the camo for $200 with the supply that i haveon hand.
back to the viper, the viper is 7ft med act it has"" back bone""but then it has a light tip in my humble opinion if i were to build this rod for myself i would be getting excited about a 7in lower grip a 2 in fore grip and then it would be built spiral, now what would i cast with it of course i would put a low profile reel on this dude and a 1'8 jig head and this rod would be my toy i could just see me picking every light lure i had in the boat and setting them right next to this viper because i believe it would be the ticket, now i also like to throw light top water stuff rubber that floats so once again the viper is the rod, i truly dont think i would want to toss a full mirrolure with it but give me one of the very small ones and it's on babby :*****: the viper comes in blue or silver i have a blue blank currently
the best way to describe the color is to emagine a piece of fiberglass clothe covered in a nice blue epoxy finish you can see fiberglass effect but the blank is graphite i have only built 2 so far but they turn out to be head movers the guys that have them tell me they get plenty of eye ballinn when they pull them out to fish, even had one fellow tell me he had a guy in a boat cruse up and ask him about the viper.
i will try to post a photo in a bit.

the blue viper

ok guys
this is the best i could do, the blank is this color about 3/4 of the way up then it becomes a solid dark blue very nice effect.
