Jig Heads for Gulp Swimming Mullet

What kind of jig heads do yall use for the gulp swimming mullet? I tried the regular ones with the one point on one side, a head with a spring on it to twist the bait on, and an H20 head with three barbs on the shank, but it seems like every time a fish or a snag pulled the bait down once, you could never keep it on the jig head???

Maybe super glue???

mriguy 08-06-2012 05:55 PM

Yellowmouth jigheads are the best I have ever used.

Not that I know of. U can order them online. Hands down the best.

It seems like they run a little bit heavy but I may be wrong.

cduhon 08-06-2012 06:10 PM

Tackle box has them in bulk. Call them and he might can ship.

They do, except I just bought the last 1/8 oz painted pack on the rack. They have 1/4 oz. painted and both 1/8 and 1/4 oz. plain (03 and 04 hooks I think). I told them to order some more, their inventory on the rack looks limited, don't know if they have more on stock.....

coastalobsession 08-07-2012 04:42 PM

Hogie sells jig heads in bulk. http://www.hogielures.com/

Hogie has a great head design but the shaft that holds the bait can't compare to our stuff, Hogie rips a bait like no other jig head I've used EVERYTIME.

We are currently out of the 1/8 white, red, chartreuse and the 1/4 chartreuse. They are on order and hopefully will be in soon.

Just got a shipment of all the other lead heads.

If you are interested in bulk purchasing let me know.

Did you call fins and feathers in Broussard? They right down the road from me. I asked the guy at the counter last week but not sure he was the correct person to be talking too.

The screw lock won't rip them.

redaddiction 08-07-2012 08:05 PM

Is there any difference in the Jenny's Jigs jig heads. They were side by side at LCT and they looked exactly alike. And we're a I'll cheaper.

longcast 08-07-2012 08:25 PM

Yellowmouth. That's what's up. Only way I roll.

I think they use a cheaper hook

Montauk17 08-07-2012 08:29 PM

Yellowmott is the shiz....I bought 100 in bulk I like them so much

jdm4x43732 08-07-2012 08:31 PM

Jenny's uses an Eagle Claw hook from what I was told at Gulfway Sporting goods. Correct me if I'm wrong Shaw but you guys use Mustad right. A batch of Jenny's I had used the eye on the hook wasn't 100% closed up, and if tying straight to braid without a leader the hook would slip off the line occasionally if you wouldn't squeeze the eye closed with pliers.

coastalobsession 08-07-2012 09:08 PM

I'm gonna have to try them out. Once the stock some 1/8oz chartreuse 3/0 I will order some

hook is the main difference. other differences are hard to tell just by looking. ours uses a 60* mustad ultra point, slightly heavier wire than the eagle claw. his is also a 90* hook which gives us a hair longer shank. used his stuff for a few years before making these and loved it

speck-chaser 08-07-2012 09:48 PM

Yellow mouf's are the bomb!!! Plastics wont slide, and they stay sharp forever.

mikedatiger 08-07-2012 10:00 PM

For those that haven't tried em' I really recommend picking up a pack (or two or three :)) of the Red Devils by YellowMouth. They are a bit more expensive as they utilize a 4/0 Mustad Ultrapoint that is a heavier gauge wire. IMO they hold just as well and they are tough as heck!

coastalobsession 08-08-2012 10:58 AM

I love the mustard ultra point. I use them for my khale (croaker) and circle hooks. They stay sharp and are fairly rust resistant even though they have no black nickel finish.
