Lifted Trucks

1 Attachment(s)
Alright, lets see them. I want to go bigger on a lift and put 35s on mine, not sure what I want to go with. Southern151 feel free to chime in lol.
Just a small 3in suspension on it right now. Tire suggestion?

PUREBAY2200 01-11-2013 12:20 AM

I'm n the process of building a lift on mine.
Ill send ya some links to check out.

How high u wanna go?

Exactly what lift is on truck now?

PUREBAY2200 01-11-2013 12:22 AM

And what is ur budget$$$??
Lotta diff ways to lift depending on ur $$$$

weedeater 01-11-2013 12:27 AM

Buddy has a 2011 F150 FX4. that he just installed a 6" lift and 35" Nittos.... I will try to get a pic to post

OhSoEasy 01-11-2013 01:40 AM

wrangler duratracs are pretty quiet in my opinion and have enough bite to get you out of the tough stuff occasionally.

Montauk17 01-11-2013 01:46 AM

All you need is a 3" body lift to clear 35's on that body style....I like the toyo mt's but there not cheap. Keep in mind you will need to go to 4.10 or 4.88 gears if you want the same pulling power with the larger tires. It's not cheap to do it right....like they say you gotta pay to play.

I am runnin these in a 33" and so far I am very pleased. I put 35" on my Dodge 2500 and regretted it due to fuel mileage.

6" fabtech lift, 22" XD monsters, 35" Toyo open country AT(was supposed to be MT but order got screwed up and it was mounted and balanced when they came in and I had waited forever already so I said screw it)

Been running lifted trucks on hwy and i've had off road mud trucks. Cheapest way is to get another truck for off road. Been there done that. If you going for looks put a body lift and a mild suspension lift. Fuel mileage will go to sheet and you'll change lots of suspension and steering parts due to premature wear with a big lift due to extra stress put on components.
Also don't buy a cheap lift you will regret it.

Sea-Trac Offshore 01-11-2013 07:01 AM

My last lifted was a 88 ranger extended cab. 6" lift and ran 33" s with plenty room. I now have a 2008 liberty 4x4 I put a 3.5" lift on. Just need to order some tires. I use mine for those hard to reach kayak fishing spots.

Start digging around on the off road forums, plenty of info out there and allot of "been there, done that" experience... Its easy to get to the point of diminishing returns and end up with something that's not a good daily driver...

Personally, I'm not a big fan of body lifts as there are too many real good IFS suspension lifts out there nowadays... They are expensive, but you get what you pay for... Keep those CV joint angles where they need to be, cheap lifts can put everything in a bind...

I have lifted a couple of 80's Broncos, F150's, 2 Tacomas, and my old Super Duty (straight front axle, easy)... Working on a Wrangler now which is a whole different animal due to short wheel base and sharp driveshaft angles :shaking:...

Very nice setup, "just right" without going too extreme ...

What he said! 35's & lifts are hell on trucks that are used everyday. Which equals lots of money.

Goooh 01-11-2013 08:44 AM

2" level for the front gives a nice stance and clearance, and lets you haul your 4wheeler or a trailer without pointing the nose to the sky.

295/75-18 Nitto Trail Grapplers fit perfect, they're just under 35" and a little narrower which IMO looks spot on and they are a little rare so your truck will have that subtle, but bad a$$ look that will be hard to figure out. Also easier on you truck. Every truck out there has 35x12.50, so they all look the same.......................................

Fishmaster19 01-11-2013 09:31 AM

To me you can't beat the Toyo MT! They last forever and are very quiet and have about the best ride of any mud grip I've ridden! Had a 2002 F250 with a leveling kit and 16" Helo's with 35" nitto Mud grapplers (loudest tire everrrrr!) Then put 20" XD Hoss' with 35" Toyo MT's. Now I have a leveled 2009 F150 Platinum and I'll never go bigger than stock again! As much as I like it its just not practical with fuel prices!

a little bit of a double standard here. Its ok to lift a truck for no other purpose then to put expensive rims and bigger tires on it but not this?:grinpimp::rotfl: Is there really a difference? Neither does anything but decrease fuel mileage?:D

biggun 01-11-2013 10:02 AM

I'm with JXM, and Fishmaster... A 3" or less lift is perfect or leveling kit is better.. I purchased a 07 Tundra as is..

It came with a 3" lift and the 295/70/18's grapplers.. Guys my fuel mileage is SHHH IIITTTT.. As for as ride.. I'm running 45-50# of air pressure in my tires and can BARELY keep it on the road.. These are 10 ply.. Suppose to run 80# of air..

When I'm pulling my 24 triton, try 8 miles a gal... Get a little expensive..

I'm not replacing these tires.. I'm going to go with a little smaller tire.. Possibly 265's Grapplers..

Tireman indicated I should get a little better gas mileage.. I'm thinking of going back to a F 150 and then just putting a leveling kit..

Keywest18 01-11-2013 10:35 AM

I love lifted trucks but i agree with the leveling kit. Unless its gonna be used somewhat offroad you cant beat a good pair of 33's. Doesnt kill gas mileage but gives it a nice stance

huntin fool 01-11-2013 11:12 AM

My gas mileage sucks regardless. I get 11.5 with my little 31 a/t.

Think I'm going to go with
295/75-18 Nitto Trail Grapplers and leave my lift just how it is. Now to pick some rims.

huntin fool what lift is on there now? is it the 3" Skyjacker? if so i will be interested in buying it from you if you upgrade.

huntin fool 01-11-2013 02:04 PM

Yea it's the 3 inch skyjacker. Trying to find some rims, anyone like to shop around for rims? Lol

southern151 01-11-2013 04:36 PM

Good call on leaving it at current height. Much taller and, it gets hard to control, especially with taller, wider tires. Aside from curb appeal, a bigger lift does nothing for a daily driver except cost a lot of $$!

That is a good lookin truck you have though!

Keywest18 01-11-2013 04:38 PM

I like the Mazzi Hulk rims. When i do my lift that's what im going with

And we have seen pics of his truck in the ditch to showcase his driving abilities already:eek::rotfl:

A lift would keep 'some' from riding in your truck though

Cut that in half with bigger tires without regearing

Which motor you have? 4.6? I was getting that with my 295's on a super crew with 5.4L.

Winmill tire in new Iberia beat everyone on those tires - paid 1180 out the door last year, they are 1280 now.

Dude @ la tech had a big sticker on his F-250
He had 12 inches of lift and ran 40's

" skyjacker... Cause fat chicks can't jump"

rkent 01-11-2013 09:27 PM

Might want to make sure your insurance company will cover vehicle after being mechanically altered. I have heard some companies want cover.

All of your reputable co's will cover them. Now, if its heavily modified, you may have to take out supplemental ins to cover mods. That's for completely custom vehicles in most cases.

rims are for confused teenagers , and democrats! .

And increases torque on your hubs when you hit bumps due to the offset! I live a good set of tires on some factory rims, it's BEEFY!

huntin fool 01-11-2013 11:30 PM

I got the 4.6 and that baby burns some petro.

Ive had rough times in my driving career, but the ford pulls through..

When I say rims, Im not talking coon rims. And guys, I'm still young and in shape. That means the ladies like a nice truck to sling a lil mud.

southern151 01-11-2013 11:35 PM

Oh yeah, at 16-17 yrs., a nice rig can pull some "stuff!" That known, your first ride looks damn good as it sits. You go much higher and they'll think you're compensating for another dept that you're short on!
