Jordan 10-21-2009 02:58 PM

CatDaddy 10-21-2009 02:59 PM

I have always been a Chevy man.. Till i bought me the Dodge 2500 with the cummings... Now im hooked. I still like the Chevy, but its hard to beat that cummings.

In all reality... All 3 trucks are some great trucks. (made in the USA)

scatv 10-21-2009 03:02 PM

I sell or have sold and worked on all three. It's all a matter of opinion. But I fell right now over all the Chevy puts out the better of the three.

LaAngler 10-21-2009 03:06 PM

Ford

bay_slayer 10-21-2009 03:06 PM

When i went to school at UTI I specialized in Ford products, simply for Job security.

Fix
Or
Repair
Daily

That acronym hold true.

Chevy is a Beast

After I got tired of working on crap(ford) I went to work at a Chevy dealership, and found out that they dont break as much, but they do have their own problems.

Then I got tired of working on personal cars (because people in general are gross, leaving dirty diapers under the seats and body odor soaked into the interior) so i quit doing it all together.

LaAngler 10-21-2009 03:08 PM

I will not support .Gov Motors

i mean look at GM's cars, equinox, cobalt, malibu? gimme a break

then they wonder why honda and toyota stomp them in the dirt.....

Now I will say the chevy gas engines are the best, had a LT1 5.7 and a Vortec 5.7, awesome engines but after putting 3 trannys in the Z71 I'm done with them.

Montauk17 10-21-2009 03:08 PM

CHEVY!!!! I have a 94 extended cab with a 4.3 v6 and its a beast. I have pulled 22' bay boats with no problem. Long live the bow tie!

I would not support them now that obama has his fingers in the cake. But then again i would not pay full price for any new truck.

yak'em-n-stack'em 10-21-2009 03:21 PM

Im a chevy/GMC man, i have a 00 z71

although the next truck i buy will be a ford 2500 superduty.

im in love with those beasts

LaAngler 10-21-2009 03:24 PM

well, maybe chevy :D

longsidelandry 10-21-2009 03:24 PM

Always had a Chevy, will always have a Chevy. I had a 97 extended cab with a 350 and ran that thing ragged but it never quit on me until it had a foot of water over the dashboard for Rita. Then I had a 98 Z71 Tahoe on 35's that only had 2 speeds...stopped and wide open. I only had to change the tranny due to trying to power brake it on the roads and having fun in my crawfish ponds when my 4wheeler was broken. Now I have an 07 Z71 and couldn't ask for anything better...except for a diesel...

Jordan 10-21-2009 03:24 PM

I own a 97 chevy.... race (tricked) out... next truck will be a diesel of some kind...not sure..

"W" 10-21-2009 03:32 PM

This is how WE ROLL.....

duckman444 10-21-2009 03:32 PM

ford when they had the 7,3 diesel like the one in mine.

Ray 10-21-2009 03:32 PM

I have a '99 Ford F-250 with the intercooled 7.3L diesel.
It is the best truck I have ever owned. Had it 11 years now.
I owned a '92 Dodge 3/4 ton with the Cummins diesel and it was second best. Had it 4 years. But it was way too loud and had too much vibration. This one got the best milage of any truck I ever had. 22 in town, 25 on the highway and 17 pulling a 20 ft. loaded cow trailer.
I have never kept any of the others that long, 3 years at the most.
I have had a very crappy '81 GMC 1/2 ton, an '85 F-350 with a 460 ci engine, an '88 GMC 3/4 ton with a 350(this one was pretty dang good for a gas engine) and '96 Chevy 3/4 ton with a Vortec engine(LEMON, if'n I wasn't dating the Chevy warranty clerk, I would have been screwed on this one). I traded it on the one I have as soon as the warranty went out. I had a new transmission, new rear end, 4 air conditioners, new drivers seat, new drivers side door handle on the inside broke, all within 3 years. I had to Bo Duke it for a couple days with the broke door handle.

cabwiz2 10-21-2009 03:35 PM

I am a Chevy man. Had a 97 Z71 and now a 03 Z71 Love them both. Never any real issues with mine.

huntin fool 10-21-2009 03:36 PM

Ford baby. F-250.

Ford is coming out with a new diesel engine. I ain't liking it too much. You have to add chicken *****(urea) to the exhaust system for better emissions.
It is going to cost something like $70 every 3000 miles to add it.
The rest of the engine package looks very nice. But the urea thing sux.

All three will have it our Chevy rep says that they will continue making the 2009's for as long as possible to not have the additive till hopefully 2011.

Like Catdaddy I've had them all, liked the Ford 7.3 liters ok, Duramax chevy only made 145,000 miles and it was over for the engine, now I have a 5.9 diesel Dodge Mega cab 4x4 and really like it, I do haul heavy loads so we shall see if it holds up. My wife is sticking with the Chevy Suburban shes had 4 and still wants nothing else.

slip knot 10-21-2009 05:46 PM

I believe im gonna keep driving what i got for a while. After o bammy bankrupted GM and sent my stock to he11 im not gonna be getting an gm anytime soon,
One of my employees has a f250 super duty that gets crappy mileage. He's almost out of warranty and is talking about an EGR delete, exhaust system and tuner to get his mileage up .why spend the additional $2k for mileage the damm thing should have anyway?
I've got two dodges that don't get very good mpg's and a friends 300C pimp mobile just had the water pump crater $1400 to get it going. Pump runs off the timing chain and the chain has a defect that the dealer recommends replacing but it not covered under warranty? Think i'll stick with my current crop of POS' for now. ..SK

blackmamba 10-21-2009 05:57 PM

Got my first Chevy truck in '06 and love it. Im hoping to get at least 200,000 miles out of it because..well, I think I need a new boat soon..

coachlaw 10-21-2009 06:14 PM

My '92 Chevy got 350,000 miles with no losses along the way besides the heater core. Sold it and teared up as I watched it drive away. My 2004 is a great truck too, though I had to scream (literally) at the dealership to get them to treat me right on the steering column and intrument gauges issue. I'm over 80,000 now and I hope to get to 300,000 with this one. I don't think the motor is as good as the old 350s though.

My 1954 Bel Air has 116,000 miles and is over 56 years old now. They don't make them like that anymore.

Here's mine...........and here's what I think....................

Gas truck=Chevy
Diesel truck= Dodge
Junk truck=Ford

Dink 10-21-2009 06:37 PM

Edit: The new Dodge gas is awesome.........That's what I would get today
The new Dodge diesel is junk.............That's what I've been told............
Any Diesel 04 or older is the way to go.................

On the Other hand..........GMC is running some AWESOME deals right now..............Hmmm..........I'm perplexed now

whunter29 10-21-2009 06:48 PM

I like both Chevy and Dodge. I have a 2007 Dodge 3500 crew cab diesel for my hotshot business and its a beast with the 6.7 and the aisan tranny. I pull way more than what the manufacture says you can pull with it and it just keeps going. I have pulled 27000 pounds with it and had no problems with it. Now I don't do that everyday but I do pull my 40' minifloat with it everyday and all I have had to replace was 1 tps sensor, 1 fuse box under the hood and 1 master cylinder for the brakes. All of this in 180000 miles of pulling. The engine uses no oil at 180000 miles so that tells me its a good one. I average around 11mpg while pulling loaded and around 14 empty trailer. Now this is all around mileage not just hwy. I also have a 97 chevy with a 4.3 vortec and it has 207000 miles on it and its for sale. Great gas mileage at 21 on the highway and 18 in town. That has been one hell of a truck and all I have replaced on it was a fuel pump and a clutch because its a standard. It uses no oil and still runs like new. Only drawback to the 4.3 is the engine is a little small for full size extended cab truck. I now drive an 04 Z71 with the 5.3 vortec and I love this truck but the gas mileage sucks.

T-BAZ 10-21-2009 07:02 PM

I had a 07 Dodge 2500 5.9 cummins and i loved it until the tranny gave out on me not once but 3 times. Yep that thing ate up three transmissions. When i brought it to the shop the third time i dropped it off and went straight to the Ford place and yep i done it, i bought a 08 F-250 Super Duty Diesel and so far i love it. I have never really liked ford but it is growing on me.I have a 40' fifth wheel camper and that truck has no problem pullin it. Fuel mileage aint the best but what the hell my company pays for my fuel.

BIGJ 10-21-2009 07:07 PM

Chevy DMAX
The best out there since the Ford 7.3 went away.

Dink 10-21-2009 08:18 PM

I had a Tacoma, Awesome azz truck... I wore that dern thing out. I put it in every field, and would never back down from a mud challenge. I traded it in full of mud with 110,000 miles, and still got 13,000 for it..

Says 1 of the 2 people on this site that can't see over the wheel...........

Nasty 10-21-2009 08:48 PM

Chevrolet

Right now chevy would get my vote! My Z71 is a sweet ride. But, my old dodge and no problems what so ever. The Z71 rides like a cadillac compared to my Ram that rode like a brick.

the ford
toyota
and sister has pontiac solstice

out of all of em fords the best ;)

speck-chaser 10-21-2009 09:36 PM

I love my tundra. Had a 2000' for 8 years, not a problem 1. traded it in about 8 mo. ago on a new bigger one, love this one even more. It will snap yo head back when you hit the passing gear. the four wheel drive on it is bad to the bone. Only slight negative would be the gas mileage.

Deerfarmer 10-22-2009 07:13 AM

Ford Ford Ford Ford

We have all Fords. 1999 Ford F-150 Lariat 4 X 4 150,000 miles, 2007 Ford Explorer 38,ooo miles, 2003 F-250 FX 4 Power Stroke 108,000, 1983 Ranger 4 X 4 God only knows how many miles this thing has. Bought the Explorer after my wife totalled a 2000 Expedition. It had 173, 000 miles on it and only changed brakes 2 times. The rice burner sales people talk about dependability. I tell them if they will refund my money on a rice burner if it requires more maintenance than that I will buy it. They back talk then. Switched from Chevrolet to Ford after numerous transmission, A/C problems on several GM Trucks and Vans. No more problems so far.

Zachary Boy 10-22-2009 09:06 AM

I still have a 90 model Ford 250 diesel ,96 chevy 1/2 ton with 160k (still kickin') , but the 06 Dodge Cummins is the "Bull-of-the-Woods" now . 24 MPG and yanks a 36' fifth wheel without even breathing hard. The interior and fit and finish on the Dodge is somewhat generic and cheesy but that's not what gets me down the road. I've got a lot of good memories made in all three trucks. My wife don't understand why I can't part with them. Sentimental attachment I guess....
