Please tell me this is not got another 9-5 tackle shop??
Can we get a 7 or 730 in lake charles Please |
gotta agree with you there W.... If your a tackle / bait store you should really be opening before daylight.
As far as i could tell it looked like Calc Point was the only game in town if you needed tackle / bait early. |

well, let me go prepare for ritualistic seppuku now.

what the heck is a soft opening? Theres only one soft opening that I'm interested in...

As far as the opening time... I don't think you will find any retail establishments opening like a "Bait shop". Cajun Fast Mart does it because it's a gas station, CCA Star site, breakfast sandwiches, etc. And they do ALOT of business from 5am to 7am ;) I haven't been in the new Cormie's but what time do they open? I know the old store had some bait but not alot... what do they carry now? Maybe you could talk to him and explain how much money Cajun Fast Mart is making.. he could follow their example and start carrying tackle that people actually want to use |

What kind of tackle do you really need at 5 am or at 7 am? Cajun fast Mart has a good business early but most of it is gasoline and food. How much fishing tackle do they sell that early in the morning? Hard to justify opening a pure tackle shop at 7 am. They will probably have more business at 7 pm. I will try to support Cajun tackle as best that I can... that's a tough business, I hope that they can make a go of it.. |
If you do good pre-trip planning, you don't have to scramble for a tackle store at 5 am...Unless they serve breakfast as well. BTW, Cormie's sausage, egg, and cheese "bizkit" is as awesome as they say it is!

With the busy schedule I have, on the way to the launch is the only time for me to get some things. Well, maybe not the only time, but I choose to do it then because its just so much easier.
I might drive 1200 miles and work 60-70 hrs that week, get home Friday eve and hook up the boat to blaze straight through the weekend - early tackle is a blessing. I drop a lot of coin at the corner store in Broussard - thanks to them for being open at 0600!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free |
1st if im s takcke shop and I want to compete with others and know that the 3rd tackle shop has never really made it
What do I do diffrnet Academy opens @ 9am LCT opens @ 9am Im going to open up at 7 or 730!! Im a early person along with lots of people who I know and down here at Heberts you know what the #1 complaint is Can't freaken get nothing till 9 o clock .. most would rather get it early then make way to lake or leave lake and go pick up tackle early Not have to wait till 9am Sorry but its a problem and always has been and its why the #3 never makes it because it refuses to do something different..... |

Maybe you should go talk to Pam about the hours if it's that important to you. |
Business owner should open early and bring other employees in at 9, This is what I would do, cut down on overhead for a while just to see how much actual business he can get between 7-9.

Dont live in LKC..Too busy running my own business!!!
|
Lol.... Everyone wants to tell someone how they should run their business....
|
Another bunch of retail experts!! What a treasure trove this place is!!
|
not saying it as a "retail" expert.
but i live about 2 hrs away from the fishing. There ain't much up here in the way "salt" appropriate tackle (good luck finding a vudu shrimp above LC) It would be real nice to have the option to stop in on the trip towards the water, It's unlikely that this store will be able to beat the big boxes on price, so there service to anglers has to make them worth paying a premium. just my 2 cents. |

I still do believe that being innovative changes how business works. That said, I won't dare tell someone whose business I know nothing about, how to run it. I may offer what has worked for me though, if they ask my opinion. |
Well if fisherman have to voice the opinion directly to tackle shop owners of any personal opinons of the community they are established in; maybe they need to be members of the local outdoor hunting and fishn forum's and take in consideration to do a special early opening on a Saturday and see how it goes. In closing Cajun fast Mart cater's to the hunter's of all game and all fishing and has sum great deli item's. Home cooked Every day.Don't mean to emply any distaste to any tackle stores directly but some have more consideration for those who don' t have everyday opportunity to keep up with there equipment needed. Amen!!!!:)
|
I just don't understand why everyone will voice an opinion here but no one will simply stop by and speak to the owners themselves. It must not be as important as it's made out to be.
|
It is important but wont technically effect us either way so thats why noone will actually tell them anything.

I sent a Pam a message on facebook
He is the deal how it falls You have your 8-5 guys who work 5 days a week They cant go before work and most cant go after work so they just to Academy because they stay open late I know I will support this new store if they open before 9... when I leave jennings and head to big lake it is about 630ish so in Lake Charles for 7ish I have to always make another trip later to a store to buy baits hooks etc when i could of.had it already and supported a local dealer |

But if the owners never read this thread then where does it get you? Nowhere, because the owners don't know this is the feeling of their perspective customers. If the customers would go by and speak with them about the hours maybe something would change. Until they hear it from their customers, it will never happen. |
instead of "bankers hours" we can call it "Waltrip Hours"
garunteed $1 hundo!! |

What a duck |
I don't believe I know of a "tackle" store that doesn't sell live bait that opens before 8:00 am.....anywhere.
Since W mentioned that he, along with many others he knows, spends a minimum of $100 when they enter a tackle store.....are you guys that want them to open at 6:00 willing to meet a "$100 minimum" to make it worth those owners' time, effort and overhead? It prolly won't take long to find out how many people really want it. |

I never said anything about "bait" shops. Can you answer the question I asked...since you were the one questioning the hours to begin with? "$100 minimum from 6:00 til 8:59 am". |
Honest question: What exactly would be the point of opening at 6:00 or 7:00? If I'm going speckled trout fishing, unless it's in the dead of winter, I'm going to be on the water at first light. Not many days when that's possible when a tackle shop is open even at 6 in Lake Charles.
Or do I have my math wrong on Lake Charles to Big Lake? |
Quote:
Im lucky but i have buddies who complain all the time and have to go to Academy because stores are closed when they get off With just the amount of people I hear complain about stores opening at 9am I promose 7-9 would have more customers than from 9-11 |

LMAO i dont care if they want to follow in shadows of LCT and work 9-5
Gulf Coast Tackle Tackle Box And Ill bump in a year!! |
So what's gonna make it better, bigger, brighter, or different than the others?? The people that would frequent these places usually have jobs and are working @ the time these type places are open. Need to find a way to make it more convenient for the supporters. I Like buying local, but if they're not open when it's good for me, Oh well.
