Food for thought

Just wanted to throw something out there for all the SC members that may be having trouble fitting into their winter clothes from last year. As one of the only Team Moobs members with moobs I have decided it is time to try and lose some weight. I was thinking it would help me out and maybe some others on here too if we chronicled our loss. I am not sure other than photos and weekly weigh ins how it would go down. I just wanted to toss it out there and see if anyone would want to join in with me on this difficult journey. Maybe Shadman wants to chime in here and throw out some incentives based on percentage of weight loss or something. I am not too worried about that aspect I am just looking for the support of my fellow outdoors people.:work:

Red Devil 11-11-2009 07:29 AM

I worked with a guy offshore that lost around 40 # just by not eating white bread, rice and potatoe chips. Just thought I would throw that out there.

those are all my food groups. well, except i think sweets have their own slot too.

SULPHITE 11-11-2009 09:22 AM

put it to this way red devil is correct...whites = bad...whole grain wheat is the ticket.Chicken...fish...turkey...low fat red meats

If you want an idea of how to eat right pick up Body for Life. They have real good recipes and teach how to eat.

6 small meals a day is key to keeping your body metabloism up as well...not crap food but healthy food such as carrots, almonds, cheese sticks, low fat yogurt etc. in small servings...

Cardio or a work out routine will double your results as well...

Don't get me wrong I cheat on the weekends...I have too...beer is my friend and there is just too much good stuff to eat in South Louisiana, but during the week I try to stick to eating healthy at work and home...

yak'em-n-stack'em 11-11-2009 10:20 AM

im down to try

i think my washer is shrinking all my clothes, cuz they sure are getting tight

Montauk17 11-11-2009 10:33 AM

Im down for the challenge as well

CatDaddy 11-11-2009 10:44 AM

thats a good idea MH.... I have lost about 20 lbs over the last 4 weeks... I been trying to cut back on things that are fattening, and i eat to much like... switching to brown rice, eating the mayonase made with Olive oil, not drinking pop, just water. And another big thing, is to stop eating at night before I go to bed. ...

SULPHITE 11-11-2009 10:45 AM

I would follow this as well...I need to lose a coupla as well...maybe moobs will turn into meebs???

Hopedale Hustler 11-11-2009 10:51 AM

well i for damn sure need to loose weight...only problem is im 1/2 Samoan and Tongan...plus im Diabetic...so losing wieght doest appeal to my Body all the time...i guess wat im trying to say is im truly Bigger Boneded than most average people due to my family...in high school..when i mah senior football year..i weighed 270..and im 6'2 and there wasnt much fat azz on me..it was mostly muscle and mass...but i cant loose weight now for some reason...ill usually just tighten everything up and stay the same.....i guess wat im saying is i need to do this also..

Red Devil 11-11-2009 10:52 AM

I'm in. I'm 220 right now. I don't eat alot, but I drink the hell out of diet coke and it pisses the wife off. I just drank my last one. Let's do this boys.

I seen them advertise that on Tv a while back, and it looked really convincing so i wrote the number down but never called. I ended up blowing it off thinking it was just another gimmick like all the other things..

Montauk17 11-11-2009 10:59 AM

I've heard from several people that it works great. My buddy told me you wont be able to finish the workouts when you first start, very intense.

SULPHITE 11-11-2009 11:01 AM

the p90x does work but its up to you to push yourself...it does work my buddy used it he lost alot of weight...it will whip your butt quick...

Mediumheavyaction6'6 11-11-2009 01:48 PM

i was 255 this morning so i have a lot to lose. I say we weigh in every Friday. I expect everyone to tell weigh lose or gain so we can keep each other in line. I think this is going to work because we can keep each other in check. Good Luck to everyone who is participating! We need more support so anyone else wants to get in?

huntin fool 11-11-2009 01:53 PM

i'd join with yall...but my goal is to GAIN weight not lose..

yak'em-n-stack'em 11-11-2009 01:55 PM

Me and medheavy have a diet plan for you fool. Guarenteed to give you some pounds

Fishmaster 11-11-2009 02:09 PM

Shad could add a new thread just for this... i need to lose about 15-20 lbs too......

Mediumheavyaction6'6 11-11-2009 02:16 PM

i like your thinking fishmaster. i think this does need its own forum. it could just be temporary until everyone has met their goals. Shadman we need you!

Fishmaster 11-11-2009 02:19 PM

I wonder if he could make a chart for people that are doing it... Seeing increase of weight or decrease of weight. Makes it easier for people and yourself to see how you are doing good/ or bad.....

How about we make a Social group? This was it can be semi-private? and shad wont have to make any special changes to the forum! Just a thought.....not trying to ruffle any feathers

RaginCagin 11-11-2009 02:26 PM

Man I eat my butt off and people always say it will catch up to me but I can not gain weight to save my life. I drink a 6 pack a day,eat boudin twice a week, eat lots of fried deer meat and fish and never weigh a pound over 160. I do rock the beer gut though.;)

dude im the same way never gain weight..

Ray 11-11-2009 03:30 PM

I was always thin, until I injured my back.
Now I am thin, with a big belly.
You don't know how many calories you burn in a normal day, until you can't do normal
stuff anymore.
I do eat boudin, almost daily, but I have always eaten it for breakfast almost all
my life. From the Rice Pot Buffet.
Tonight we are having fried fish and onion rings, or maybe fried shrimp on a stick.
That kinda stuff is what is killing me. It's all going to my roll around the middle.

Mediumheavyaction6'6 11-11-2009 04:12 PM

social group sounds like a good idea! i am up for anything that helps me out without putting anyone else out.

Mediumheavyaction6'6 11-11-2009 05:51 PM

ok guys, i created a new social group called "down sizing". anyone that wants in on this can join. i will be posting weekly if not daily updates on how things are going i encourage everyone else to do the same. We will do weekly weigh ins on Fridays. I think this is really going to help me, I hope all of you get the same experience out of this that I do.

Fishmaster 11-11-2009 05:55 PM

Mediumheavyaction6'6 11-11-2009 06:00 PM

After your last post, you won't be a premium member for a long long time...

Mediumheavyaction6'6 11-11-2009 08:26 PM

just wanted to let everyone know that i discussed it with Shadman and he is going to create a new forum for the weight loss thing we talked about today. It is going to be called something like "Quitters and Losers". It will be for quitting and vice or losing weight. I will update when it comes up. I will be updating my progress weekly if not daily. I encourage all those that wanted to participate to do the same,
