Surf Fishing 6/7 or 6/8

Anyone else plan on a little mid-week surf fishing around Holly Beach/going west.....?

I'll probably take off to fish one of those days, it seems as if the weather would set up well.

What is everyones thoughts?

calling North from sunday morning early until mid-day Wednesday as of now(lord knows they can miss it by a stretch/liable to change), so I think i'll stick to wednesday unless I see things change Monday and i'll adjust accordingly, I'll sure post whatever i run across/if i catch!

I'm thinking of taking the yak to the tide breakers Tuesday or Wednesday morning of next week. Hopefully I'll catch some finger mullet and croakers in the cast net when I get there because I want to fish the rocks and surf exclusively with live bait for the she hogs.

How long y'all like wind to blow out of north before hitting the surf? Lake Charles may get 2-3 days but forecast has Cameron only getting one. Last time I went it been north in Cameron for 3 days and nights and water was cleanest I evewr saw it

2 days can make it turn green, 3 days even better. It can become fishable with less than 48 hours of N wind but it depends on the condition of the water before the wind switches. Even on the last day when wind switches East then South the beach is usually fishable.

A lot can change by the 11 th. Too early to say.

Madonk 06-05-2016 05:59 PM

I'm just not sure if rutherford with the river would be better fishing in general or if Holly Beach would be better.

MEM1971 06-05-2016 09:02 PM

Made a run yesterday in the boat across holly up to Lil Florida yesterday morning just to inspect t the water. Still a diluted milkshake. Hopefully today's satellite photo tells us a better story.

AlexOrtego 06-06-2016 09:41 AM

No trout this am in the surf. When I got to Mae's beach at daybreak u could see almost a foot. Tide had just started going out and went out all dayt!! When I left the beach at 8am u could see maybe 6 inches. Its awayts better out there on Hugh tide. Anyway got to wade fish ship channel around 9 and picked up 9 trout. Waited and waited for tide to switch and come in but never happened and a damn hard head sent me headed back north around 4 pm. Wanted to stay but was beat up pretty good as it was and hard head got my trigger finger and called it a day. It will be better in am and even better Wednesday if wind stays north. Post pics in am when I clean them. Goidluck everyone.

MEM1971 06-06-2016 10:26 PM

Oh, holly beach was terrible! Little Florida is where I could see 6 inches or so and Mae's about a foot. There was a couple guys I talked to at little Florida that caught 2 trout at 7am on topwater and they caught one more on mullet as I was leaving around 8-830/

marshrunner757 06-07-2016 06:45 AM

Yep. A hard head will ruin you day quick. At least you found some. Was hoping the beaches may clear but maybe not.

marshrunner757 06-07-2016 08:47 PM

Good luck! I was tempted but going to work.
