how well do you think this would go over?

a live wiegh-in trout tourney with a slot limit on the trout with the biggest being 25" so the true trophys wont be handled from water to boat to weigh in and back to water.with 5 places paid and first guarenteed at least $1500.thought this would help save the trophys.

jlincecum 04-24-2010 09:02 PM

when and where??? 1fish, 3 fish, 5 fish????

I don't think they have live wells in LA :*****:

cmdrost 04-26-2010 08:44 AM

make it 1 fish IMO.....why do you need a stringer of big fish? Can't talk about trying to conserve the big ones and do a 3 or 5 fish stringer IMO.

longsidelandry 04-26-2010 10:01 AM

If you're that worried about the big fish then why even have a tournament? Make the tournament a 5 fish tourney and the smallest weight wins.

yep....too many tourneys held on BL

"Make the tournament a 5 fish tourney and the smallest weight wins. "

Call it the 5 - W ....with a 12 - 14 " slot limit :)

It is as the water continues to warm. Warmer water is bad for livewells.

#1 tip for upcoming summer tourneys: Add very small amounts of ice or keep a old water bottle frozen to keep in your livewells. Trout will cook in the summertime livewells.

Raymond 04-26-2010 11:30 AM

One fish per boat with weigh stations on the water, westside, eastside, south and north. Updates on fish weighed in realtime via VHF or email to smart phone. Fish could be weighed, tagged and realeased in minutes versus cooking in a live well waiting to be weighed.

I believe in the future, all tournaments will have to be run this way if they want to stay in business. IMO, this makes more sense if conservation is your primary objective.;)

longsidelandry 04-26-2010 11:34 AM

Or how about a CPR tourney?? Give everyone the same kind of ruler or sticker with the measurements on it like the CCA CPR ruler sticker and make everyone take a picture of their fish on the ruler that way no fish need to be kept in the boat.

mikedatiger 04-26-2010 11:58 AM

just curious as to why people get up in arms over a catch and release tourney? seriously, trying to figure this out. how's it any different than any other day on the lake. I know people "target" big fish in a tourney, but I know people that target big fish every day on the water. just asking...

trophytroutman's idea sounds like a good one to me. and to josh's point, if you make an effort to keep fresh water in your live well all should be good...

Purple Back 04-26-2010 12:20 PM

Ok, wow, enough is enough, I believe in conservation but some of you guys are starting to sound like you work for Obama.

Lets all just quit bringing rod and reals and hope a fish swims by so we can take a picture.

Give me a break,.... I like trophytroutman's idea, I say we go with that.
95% of you guys can't catch one over 25 inches anyway.:*****:

wtretrievers 04-26-2010 12:23 PM

Doesn't bother me either way, just felt the need to screw with somebody today!

That's the point I'm trying to make by coming up with these rediculous ideas.

Purple Back 04-26-2010 12:31 PM

"some of you guys", not all

PUREBAY2200 04-26-2010 03:58 PM

If u gonna lure people in with cash payout make it a guarantee payout.... Not" based on a filed of 20, 40 etc..."
pick a number, if u get more boats and can raise it raise it.
GUARANTEE a payout.

Hear that fellas, we are lucky to be in the presence of greatness. All hail purple back! Hopefully one day I can catch a bunch of fish like you......and then when I do.....I can post a report about in on the internet to solidify my status as a great fisherman.

theres more big fish killed by everyday fishermen than by tourney anglers with a live weigh in.IMO.

evis102 04-26-2010 09:52 PM

I like to fish for big fish but I would fish any tournament on Big Lake I can get off work for. I really can not believe how hard it is to get tournaments together on Big Lake.

Ding-ding-ding.......We have a winner!!!!!!!!!!!!

I say weigh your fish, then filet the crap out of them and get some frickin' grease going! Aint' nothing better than fresh trout filets!!! This catch & release, tree hugging stuff is starting to go overboard in my opinion. When one of you guys finds a trout that can talk, text, or send an email to let you know he survived a release from a tournament, let me know!

jpeff31787 04-27-2010 08:51 AM

have a halfway low entree fee per person not boat.. limit of 4 ppl per boat. I'd like to say no wading but then half of everybody will cry

Each boat can have five fish with only 1 over 25" per boat (incase somone is fishing by themselves nobody can have an advantage over him)

Then have a live fish bonus such as .5lb for each alive fish

and have an odd fish category b/c its always fun if the specs aren't cooperating

and then biggest spec award of course

That sounds like it'd be a fun tourny to me
