Freeze Event Causes Concern
Anglers all along the Gulf Coast, particularly those in Texas and parts of Louisiana, are sitting on pins and needles waiting to see the effects the recent freeze event will have on our inshore fisheries. Reports of fish kills are abundant along the Texas coast, but fortunately, most of these reports are limited to baitfish and non-game species. Although, some trout are being found in mid-coast areas like Port O'Connor.

If you're concerned and looking for a place to keep up with the latest on what's happening in your local area, some good places to look are the forums at 2Coolfishing.com and SaltyCajun.com. There are numerous discussions and up-to-date reports on both sites regarding the impact this frigid weather is having on various parts of the coast.

If you've got a first-hand report on how the recent freeze has impacted your local water, we'd like to hear from you.

If you do make it out on the bay, please exercise extreme caution and take appropriate measures to stay safe and warm.

Texas anglers and coastal residents can report any freeze-related fish kills or large numbers of sluggish or cold-stunned fish by contacting TPWD's Upper Coast Regional Office at (281)534-0100 or the Lower Coast Regional Office at (361)729-2328.
