I personally think most of your higher end reels(shimano,abu,ect....) will last as long as you take care of them, a little freshwater bath and oil go a long way. Negligence is a reels worst enemy
I hate when people complain about a reel not lasting, but you ask them if they cleaned it as much as they should and the answer is usually no.
