this is a good practice hitting it with a large amp charger will knock anything that is attached to the plates off......now that being said my dad owns a battery company. and none of us do this. as long as your batteries stay fully charged they will be fine. this is mainly for batteries that sit up and stay at an uncharged state which cause the acid and the water to seperate which in turn sulfates the plates
