Question Shoulder Surgery

I was screwing around this summer and fell from about 6 feet (plus my height of 6') onto my right shoulder... have put up with it since but it started hurting more and more so went to get it checked... my doctor took x-rays to rule out bone damage, called it rotator cuff strain or tear. I need my right shoulder for marching festivals as i am the drum major for the next two weeks so they but me in PT to try to loosen it up (which almost hurts more than just letting it be). My therapist has diagnosed it as a glenoid labrum tear which is damage to the cartilage around the end of the shoulder that keeps it in place. Only way to fix it is arthoscopic surgery... Not a definent diagnosis until i get a MRI. If it does turn out that way my duck season is pretty much shot (no pun intended) anyone had this surgery? how much recovery? real painful? and has anyone ever tried to switch shooting arms? My dad is right handed but shoots left handed... don't know how bad its gonna be but pretty sucky outlook right now... I was so looking forward to this season with my new dog too
