I'm going back with my original advice, shower together. That way you might get a little hot water before it goes to lukewarm. After your shower tonight, if it's not raining, kill the breaker and drain some water from the bottom of the tank and see if you get a bunch of sludge. That could fix your problem, but it has never worked for me. If you have a 30 gallon tank, carefully disconnect the bottom element and see if it is good (You are going to need a multimeter to check its resistance). It might not be that big of a deal to change it. Definitely the cheapest option. Little projects like that sometimes become all day projects. I like going to the repair parts store with the broken part in my hand and all the make, model, and serial number information that I can find. Good luck my friend, keep us posted.
