Default TROUT Report

HI Guys!!!!

Made our way to FWC early. Tried to get some finger mullet @ a few places along the road to No avail.

Put in and tried by the landing. Only a few. Got out into the channel near the rocks and caught about 60-70 with 2 of us throwing nets.

Any who head out to the SE about 20 miles. Got to the platform; 4 boats there already. With 2 right behind us.

Found a spot, anchored up, and I throw the first mullet out. About 2 minutes later Trout on.

Then tried to help the others get the right rig-ups.

We start getting cut off. After about 45 minutes here comes a workboat with a sandblasting crew coming right to the down current side of the platform.

We didn't have to move, but the boat, backing down to the platfrom really messed up the bite.

1 hr goes by no trout and it's time to move. So we go a little further south. Water was toothy.

First cast on plastic. Felt a thump, then nothing. Reeled in no jigggyhead.

Put some wire on and catch a few nice trout along with VERY large Spanish.

Couldn't get a bait down without loosing wire, hooks, weights, and jigheads.

Anyway we weregoing to leave and head north. I said lets try down wave and current side of wellhead.

First cast with a plastic. Thump. Nice FISH. A little drag puller.

About 5' down I saw a flash. I said get the net.

A really nice Pompano hits the net. Made My day!!!

Caught 1 about 4.5#. Ended the day with about 18 trout and 10 large spanish.

The pic has a few of the nicer trout and the one pompano. Can't wait to pan sear with olive oil and a little pure butter and my secret seasoning.

All in all a fun day with a friends.

If you're going long better get some live bait.

Thanks

Biggun
