You are correct, oil seeps up all the time, and there is bacteria that CAN process oil. They also process other materials, they would not last very long if all they did was eat oil, because there is not enough of it seeping out every single day
. The bacteria can not consume all that oil that was leaked, there just isn't enough of them to do that. Do you really think there are an unlimited supply of oil-eating bacteria just out there starving to death waiting around for some oil to spill
