It's our first season in this area but our family member is set up about 800 yards away and put us in this place. We're set up in the mouth of a slough that connects with the lake on an eastern bank. We've talked to two people who hunt near the location and told us it would be a perfect place. I know putting trust in someone like that isn't a great thing but from what I saw during teal season we're gonna be ok. Woodies like nuts and a small number of big ducks buzzed the area.
ETA: this isn't marsh, its freshwater, thats why I wanted to know what these plants were gonna do with the winter. I know everything in the marsh pretty much dies, never hunted fresh.
