Make sure you have a good strong trolling motor that has a good smooth blade on it. You want to be able to chop through vegetation good. Any burs on the blade and it likes to grab it and wrap up, and you will be spending time cleaning your prop.
Also, slow down when you are making the turns on the main canal. Not sure if it is still the case but some of those turns are blinded by tall grass and you never know when there is a boat coming from the other way. I just slow down around turns to prevent any collisions.
