I picked a few oyster mushrooms the other day. Its the only good kind in my area at the moment. They winter type will be done pretty soon, look for them on black willow. Chantrelles usually grow in dirt under oaks. They appear beginning in April in my area. Chicken of the woods is usually at the base of the trunk of water oak in my area. August/September is when I usually find them. Get a field guide because you will find a ton of mushrooms you will have no idea what they are. So in short, its worth your time if you know what for. I know they serve chantrelles in fine restaurants but I have never seen any for sale.
