I'm a 2500 series fan and they will handle both just fine that's what I have for my sports
Shimano Sedona 2500 on a Shimano Clarus Worm and Jig 6'8" Medium/Fast rod
Reels run about $50-$60 rods are $70-$80 I believe
Great setups IMO but I'm a big time shimano fan
